Last night and then again this morning I was watching clips of Ted Cruz's speech where he announced he was leaving the Republican Campaign.
Upon reflection listening to this thing I was struck by how Cruz seemed to have lifted parts of Shakespeare's Henry the Fifth's St. Crispin's Day Speech and made it about him. It was kind of funny when I thought about it.
Limbaugh made the same comparison today.
The intensity of the last couple of weeks and the fact of the blowout loss in a state where he was leading just a week ago probably had a lot to do with that. Cruz is a smart guy. Give him a few days. He knows we have to beat Hillary.
Let me be the next in a long line to say “That struts and frets his hour upon the stage. And then is heard no more: it is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.” And then he hit his wife, twice.
Oh, lighten up, Francis.
Alas, poor Theodore, I knew him well.
Saint Crispin’s Day speech? Did he hold his manhood cheap?
The “shining city on the hill” was a common Reagan phrase.
“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in ‘Dancing With the Stars,’
but in ourselves, that we are such sheeple.”
It was a typical political exit speech. Full of words and phrases and nothingness. Same speech has been spoken for years. Results, zero. The nation has slowly but surely been travelling a path of degeneration for years. And, unless and until someone who can walk the path of truth and decency instead of talking meaningless and politically correct words the road to destruction will continue. Is Trump that someone? Do not know, but none of the others are.
This part sounded familiar.
My campaign should have died hereafter;

Maybe ST.Crispins when he was campaigning during the last few days but certainly not during the ‘concession’ speech

The phrase that stood out most to me was:
“WE are suspending OUR campaign...”
That word choice always sounds snooty and elitist to me. I’ve heard other politicians do the same.
They will be the usual voter fraud and cheating by the rats (as was when Obama was elected TWICE) but we MUST ALL get out and vote Republican, (as corrupt as it is, it is not as bad as the rats party)
Another four years of Obama's policies, which will be carried on by Hillary- and America, our values, our way of life will be absolutely destroyed.
Does anyone REALLY think Donald will let let himself be beaten by Hillary after coming so far? Donald is brilliant and tireless, and he knows ALL the dirt on the criminal Hillary. Not being PC crippled and spineless as the rest of the politicians, he will hit her with ALL of it. He will SLAUGHTER her.

Its not, there were thousands of people working on his campaign he is indicating that it is not just about him. Obama is the one who says "I" and "me" in every sentence.
Parting is such sweet sorrow......

Best thing Cruz said in his exit speech was, “We must unite as a party now.”
The overdone lemonade stand story wasn’t too Shakespearean.

It was too long, overly dramatic, and missed the key point of acknowledgine the winner and being a gracious loser, if that’s what you mean.
“Boundless optimism” was stolen from Reagan.
What kind of pompous ass prefaces a statement with, “Hear me now”? Oh. Right.
Typical Cruz. Smarmy.
