Lunchroom Lunacy: ISD cops investigate $2 bill spent on school lunch
ABC-13 ^ | Ted Oberg and Trent Seibert

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- When you think of felony forgery your thoughts might turn to Al Capone or Bonnie and Clyde shooting it out with the Texas Rangers.

Not for some local school cops. For one day, public enemy number one when it came to forgery was 13-year-old eighth grader Danesiah Neal at Fort Bend Independent School District's Christa McAuliffe Middle School.

Now 14, Daneisha was hoping to eat that day's lunch of chicken tenders with her classmates using a $2 bill given to her by her grandmother when she was stopped by the long arm of the law.

"I went to the lunch line and they said my $2 bill was fake," Danesiah told Ted Oberg Investigates. "They gave it to the police. Then they sent me to the police office. A police officer said I could be in big trouble."

I've heard many stories of Canadian tourists to Florida, passing off 'Canadian Tire money' as Canadian currency. I'll be nice... How naïve of the Floridians and how ignorant and criminal of the tourists.

DOES NOT EQUAL

except

at Canadian Tire stores!

“So, if they still have them, are the $2 bills still legal tender?”

Got some at the bank just the other day. I use them whenever the bank has some available.

An Illinois nudist camp requested their visitors use only two dollar bills in the local town to prove how much the camp contributed to the local economy.

The camp is now a valued asset to the community.

The morons at that school would think the $3 Hillary buck is legit.

$2 bills are more scarce then hen’s teeth. I hope your kiddos keep them and resist the urge to spend them. My grandpa gave me a roll of pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters back in the early 1940’s. Found them in my mom’s stuff when she died back in 2005. So happy and surprised that she had kept them all these years. They will go to my grandsons when I’m gone but not before! Don’t want them to be tempted to sell them to a coin collector.

The cop should be in big trouble, but he won't be.

Someone needs to post a picture of the cop with the slogan "This is what Stupid looks like!". He also should be sued for incompetency, at the very least fired from the school. You don't threaten and intimidate a 13 year old girl for a nonsense charge. He also needs to apologize publicly to the girl and her family. What a loser.

Yeah I gathered that must be the case. I guess he always bought in to the phony as a two dollar bill quip. Never really understood where that quip originated, or even why. I guess stupidity is the answer.

That’s when you hold one up and say “read the coin, einstein. And if you can’t read, call your manager over and have them read it to you”.

That’s because the quip is “Phony as a THREE dollar bill”.

There has never been a $3. bill printed by any country. That’s the point. Because you misheard it doesn’t make it any less valid.

It’’s only real money if you have some of the extremely scarce 1964 silver Kennedys. The rest is fool’s money, no better than paper currency.

Get a pocketful of pre-64 silver coins and jingle them. Luxuriate to the sound of real specie money that held intrinsic value and made inflation very hard to achieve.

Actually they thought it was fake because the counterfeiting pen didn’t work on it because it was from 1953

We also made gold pieces in $2.50, $3 and $4 denominations. The first was common, the other 2 rare and very valuable today.

I got a pile of twos from my dad. I save them. When I am bored some day, maybe I’ll go out and spend a few. : )
