Teachers Get RAISES, Schools FLOURISHING After Scott Walker Kicks Out Unions
The Federalist Papers ^ | 5/3/2016 | Robert Gehl

If they care more about students than teachers’ unions, every school district in the country needs to pay attention to this:

When Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker gave the boot to teachers’ unions, liberals predicted a disaster of apocalyptic proportions: Teachers quitting, slack-jawed, uneducated students meandering down vacant downtowns that closed shop.

It turns out, though, that Walker’s “Act 10” may have been the best thing to happen to schools and teachers in decades. That’s because not only is teacher pay up for the best students, but without burdensome union rules, school administrators are empowered to make real changes they need regarding classroom management, EAGNews is reporting.

That means firing bad teachers and rewarding good teachers – precisely what every school across this country should be doing.

In a report done by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, they detail some of the real successes of “Act 10.”

One example is the Oak Creek-Franklin School District, where building principals evaluate teachers on “instructional effectiveness, professionalism, and leadership. This has the effect of increasing the pay for the highest performing teachers from $78,059 to $88,304,” the report said.

When dealing with unions, the collective bargaining agreements contained rules so onerous and odious, it made it difficult to effectively operate a school.

Imagine that.....it must be a miracle...Oh wait. For the record, Walker didn't kick the unions out. He let the teachers vote. And they kicked the unions out.

What Governor Scott Walker and the Wisconsin state legislature did is an achievable model every single state can emulate.

He was my first pick for president, until he fell on his face right out of the gate. Trump should find a place for him. Walker is a fighter like Trump, who will stick to something even if it gets a lot of flak. Secretary of Education would be perfect.

The teachers union has never been about what’s best for the students. It has always been what’s best for the teachers, at taxpayer expense. Union bosses make a six-figure income while suckering teachers into being jubilant about a 1.5% negotiated wage over a two-year period. Most teachers have a Master’s Degree yet aren’t capable to negotiate on their own without a union. Amazing! Walker has proven that the teachers union is a relic, outdated, unnecessary, and ineffective, costing teachers $100 per month in dues. Teachers should be happy to be rid of that anchor which has been holding them back.

The ability to fire bad teachers and reward good teachers is huge. I’m sure there’s a very big majority of teachers who favor of that than oppose it. But they’re afraid to say anything because some liberal communist nut job will twist that around and the next thing you know....you’re a racist.

As others have said, Walker was my original first choice until he faceplanted. Walker would make a good VP for Mr. Trump, solid conservative plus help in a swing state.

Unions always knock down those that pop up their heads with suggestions on improving things. They just want a steady income from union dues and no sass from the members.
