A Confederate monument capped with a statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from a spot near the University of Louisville campus where it has stood since 1895.
The stone monument honoring Kentuckians who died for the Confederacy in the Civil War will be moved to another location, University President James Ramsey and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said during a surprise announcement Friday.

afraid of history?
or hiding white men, for a change?
Yup. Rewriting American history by black racists and thrir leftwing white enablers.
Are they going to build a “safe space” in it’s place? Where the walls are painted pink and students can play with stuffed animals and watch videos of puppies?
If Americans think this is a “Confederate” phenomenon they are delusional; most of the Founding Fathers owned slaves, and probably every state originally permitted it (here in NJ it was abolished in 1846, only 15 years before the Civil War). I expect a lot of history is going to be “deleted” by the people who are inheriting this country via demographics...
Score another victory for America's version of ISIS; our cultural cleansers making sure only the 'right' history is shown.
Yep, exactly.
“Airbrushed” right out of history. A very common occurrence in the Soviet Union.
I think this was also one of Winston Smith’s duties.
Now that was well said.
Makes me sick.
this is truly, truly sick.
(I’m a union guy incidentally...well...more of a border states/sam houston guy...but this is sick unto death)
Now all they have to do if find a company to move the monument. New Orleans can tell them that might not be so easy.
Story says "moved to another location". AP is all over the place.
These few to whom the politicians cave should instead recieve jail or deportation for hate. This nonsense has to stop one long mlk bullevod is not going to cut it.
The people of New Orleans let the companies there know that moving their monuments is not a good idea for a lot of reason, money, safety, future business. Those monuments are still in place. Are you listening Kentucky?
All these years later, still so easily bought and sold, eh, Ricky?
This is the same thing ISIS does to historical sites.
That day is drawing ever so close.
Prepare accordingly.
It is important that the victor remove and dishonor the heroes of the vanquished people. In addition the conquerors rename landmarks such as MLK Boulevard instead of Jefferson Avenue; Mount Denali instead of Mount McKinley. Get used to it.
