There's a massive 'crab swarm' off the coast of Panama

"As we slowly moved down to the bottom of the seafloor, all of the sudden we saw these things," Pineda said. "At first, we thought they were biogenic rocks or structures. Once we saw them moving—swarming like insects—we couldn't believe it."

The crabs are Pleuroncodes planipes, or tuna crabs, and are usually found around Baja California. The Panamanian coast is a long way from home.

"No one had ever found this species that far south," Pineda said. "To find a species at the extreme of their range and to be so abundant is very unusual."

This is the end. (sobbing)

If too many of them move towards the equator, their mass will throw the earth's axis by a degree or two. At least that's what I heard Robert Kennedy Jr say on NPR once.

But I digress...

Why not? Sometimes things that smell like tuna have crabs.

Not sure?

Always remember, 'you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna crab'.
Or something like that?

Interesting. Especially the earthquake predicted months in advance by the snakes.

The crabs in the main post being a little slow walking may have started early also. Although I did see a few of them in the panic mode as they leap crabed over others.

I gave up on watching our horses or dogs for indications of anything because they would all randomly act stupid for no apparent reason.

The Japanese believe oarfish washing up on the beach is an indicator of an offshore earthquake.

There have been some large quakes near Australia. The US coast is on the Ring of Fire, and will be the next area to feel the after affects.

Yep. As they like to say about Bernie Sanders, “Shake his left leg and you’ll have a crab feast”.

DUMBGRUNT: You forgot the razor before the ice pick and lighter fluid. A clean area is better for seeing the little guys.
