102 years of age is a solid healthy run!
How did this hard ass pull that off?
It’s too bad that meeting Obama is one of his final memories. I just read about this guy a week or two ago.
My Great Grandfather had some interaction with the Crow in the 1870âs in the Dakotas. It was not peaceful.
RIP......I’ll bet Obama doesn’t go to a baseball game over giving this some attention.
Remember Fort Hood.
When I saw what year he rec’d the Medal, I thought of Fort Hood- Obama gave a frivolous “shout out” to this man before commenting on Fort Hood.

That man lived a hella full and interesting life!
They mention he almost got fired from the movie “They Died with Their Boots On” because he talked about how Custer needlessly got his men killed. But they don’t mention that his grandfather, White Man Runs Him, was one of Custer’s Indian Scouts who tried to warn him about what he was about to get into.
When the scouts saw that Custer was going to attack the Indian camp anyway, the head of the scouts told him “You and I are going home today by a road we do not know.”
White Man Runs Him died when Medicine Crow was 11 and by that time he’d memorized all the old man’s stories.
RIP.
Up`n here in the mountains, we un`s ancestors got chiefed by
“leading a war party, touching the first fallen enemy and stealing his weapon, and entering an enemy camp and stealing their women.”
RIP Joe Crow. I would have liked to have met you I this life and hear your stories.
So I can safely assume that the Crow had no war chiefs in pre-Columbian times?
It’s kinda hard to steal horses when there haven’t been any for millenia. At least until the Spaniards came...
