Incorrect. Cyclists have a vested interest in not getting into painful crashes with automobiles.
Common accidents are left-turning cars, opening car doors without looking, and inadvertent car target-fixation on cyclists going in same direction.

As I implied before, the answer for the safety problems of cyclists is to learn to ride properly and legally. Forester's book on Effective Cycling is probably the best text written on the subject. I have been cycling since the 1970s using his principles and they work. But I am currently living in a county with bikeways, and they are a disaster—especially for the cyclists themselves and for pedestrians.
