As the reality of Donald Trump’s lead sinks in, party figures who once insisted Ted Cruz was at least as bad are starting to come around.
There was a time—long, long ago—when the Republican Party was afraid of Donald Trump, but it truly loathed Ted Cruz.
They hated him. They couldn’t stand him. They might have thought Trump was a huckster, they might have thought he didn’t have any idea what he was doing, and they might have thought he was a bigot, but at least he wasn’t as insufferable as Ted Cruz, the man who had gone out of his way to wreck the party’s plans in Congress, and had called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar. Forced to choose, party elders tended to shudder and lean Trump. Lindsey Graham was particular piquant in his criticism. He was very clear he didn’t like Cruz, who he said was no better than Trump and whom he accused of McCarthyism. He cracked, “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
A lot can change in a couple weeks. Graham made his joke about murdering Cruz way back on February 26, which makes it all the more surprising to hear from the South Carolina senator these days.
“I can work with Ted Cruz,” Graham said. “I know what I’m getting with Ted Cruz.”

After March 15 it will be clear whether he can win and Cruz will have a decision to make.
GOPe can offer him... legislation, veto on some legislation, new Majority Leader, good stuff for Texas, committee assignments, re-election support...
Trump can offer him most of the same and an Executive appointment.
He’ll be free to choose whatever’s best for him and the country.

What would REALLY be fantastic would be if Trump and Cruz would cut a deal in secret and then announce it at the convention, such that Cruz pledged his delegates to Trump. Cruz would either be Veep or AG (to pick all judicial nominees, prosecute Hillary and the corrupt Obamaites), and then to be named to the SC. THAT would be a schaedenfreude moment.

What’s the odds that the GOPe decided:
Cruz as president - 4 years (let the Senate & House control him
OR
Supreme Court Justice - LIFETIME (no control)
They could not stand having him on the SC for life he would be too staunch!
It is beyond comprehension of most conservatives how one could be undecided, much less for the trumpster..
One guy I spoke with recently said that if elected, a trump failure would not hurt the conservative movement.
