Donald Trump and Tiananmen Square
National Review ^ | February 27, 2016 | Jay Nordlinger

Posted on 02/27/2016 9:37:11 PM PST by ConservativeTeen

In Thursday night’s debate, Donald Trump put in a word for Saddam Hussein and Moammar Qaddafi, in a way. He said that, if those two were still in power, “instead of having terrorism all over the place, we’d be — at least they killed terrorists, all right?”

The fact is, they were terrorists. And funders and shelterers of other terrorists. (Abu Nidal, for one, in Saddam Hussein’s case.)

The Uniparty globalists are working overtime this weekend. They’re in hurry-up offense mode with 2:30 on the clock and they’re down by three touchdowns. It’s looking bleak.

a nation of savages has to be ruled by Big Chief Savage. We don’t have the resources to civilize billions of people who have never been civilized. Best to look after your own and let nature run its course. If you are attacked on your home soil, the crush your enemies into a fine powder. But if amnesty international tells you about someone thousands of miles away being put into a woodchipper- too bad. So sad. Keep eating your sandwich and move on.

That’s low even for him.

I think he has early stage Alzheimer’s. He always says the same thing over and over and gets mixed up easy.

He has tricks as well that they use as they get confused or flustered.

I would hate to think that. I’ve been taking care of my mother who has Alzheimer’s for the last nine years so I know what you mean.

Such short memories.
Saddam supported terrorists.
Saddam constantly threatened our allies payed the family of terrorists for killing Jews.
Saddam gassed his own people.
Saddam invaded another country.
He tried to assassinate one of our presidents.
He was a brutal, brutal dictator who fed detractors into a wood chipper for goodness sake.

Saying we should have left him alone after the invasion of Kuwait? That is akin to saying we should have stayed out of WWII Europe.

Actually Trump is correct. These regimes didn’t put up with terrorists.

That is akin to saying we should have stayed out of WWII Europe.

Staying out of it was what the people in America were demanding, until we were attacked. We used to be an isolationist country for most of our history. Since WW2 though, our politicians seem determined to send our young men to die for causes which affect them only tangentially all over the world.

Hmmm... The Government of China self-identifies as Communist.

So did the protesters.
They were not there for capitalism, they were there for more stuff.

Not wishing people harm or saying they deserved it...
just saying a paper matche of Statue of Liberty and the MSM don’t make an USAmerican Style Revolution.

That is utterly false revisionist history.

Tiananmen Square protests of 1989

The protests were triggered in April 1989 by the death of former Communist Party General Secretary Hu Yaobang, a liberal reformer who was deposed after losing a power struggle with hardliners over the direction of political and economic reforms. University students marched and gathered in Tiananmen Square to mourn. Hu had also voiced grievances against inflation, limited career prospects, and corruption of the party elite. The protesters called for government accountability, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and the restoration of workers' control over industry. At the height of the protests, about a million people assembled in the Square. Most of them were university students in Beijing.

It was a pro-democracy movement that is why that had a "paper mache Statue of Liberty."
