When I went to Okinawa it fell from my shirt pocket and was lost in the sea.
My Zippo survived 13 months in 'Nam ... and then I lost it only a few months later in an "entertainment compound" on one of the Carib islands.

Everything from my active duty, other than one Pisscutter, my Corporal Chevrons and dogtags was lost forever after I got out, found an apartment and promptly had the open-garage storage bay burglarized -- the lot of which included a footlocker with all that stuff.

I don't know what the hell I'd have done if they'd activated us inactive reservists.
