I had a lighter from Viet Nam engraved with the name of every city and Ville I was in. When I went to Okinawa it fell from my shirt pocket and was lost in the sea.

Oh geez. I hate to hear stuff like that. So sorry. I know “only a material thing”, but it has SO much meaning...especially in that context.

My Zippo survived 13 months in 'Nam ... and then I lost it only a few months later in an "entertainment compound" on one of the Carib islands.
