These guys should have been around for the flooding of the Black Sea Basin about 7600 YBP, that had to have been fun. The Mediterranean, following world ocean levels, finally lapped over the Anatolian land bridge just north of Istanbul and began a 100-year super-cascade of seawater down the west side of the (mostly) empty basin, driving out its inhabitants, some of whom became the Sredny Stog Culture which became the Yamnaya/Kurgan Culture, which became the Indo-European linguistic community, which became us.
Sea and ice levels have been unstable since the end of the Ice Age and they'll drop again when the current interglacial ends and ice begins to pile up on continents and poles again.
This stuff doesn't stand still, folks -- it hasn't, for at least the last 2.5 million years. Al Gore's little Communist friends are blowing smoke up everyone's skirts about some nonexistent World Primordial and Perfect that people have screwed up and so need to be, in the words of the spectral major domo of the Overlook Hotel, very strictly disciplined.

In fact, I used to date a girl who lived on South Battery in Charleston, SC, and a cousin who also lived SOB, (South of Broad) when I was at The Citadel, Class of '71. Always had to drive through tidal flooding on Lockwood Dr. down to Broad St. to get to or from either of their houses. Last week, no tidal flooding at all.
And nothing has changed in Miami and Key West from 10 years ago when we first moved to Florida.
