Is it time for a Trump-Cruz alliance? (vanity)

Posted on 02/23/2016 11:11:12 AM PST by Leaning Right

By alliance I mean a joint announcement that Trump and Cruz are now running as a team, or perhaps a joint announcement committing Trump to pick Cruz as a Supreme Court justice.

I bring this up because the elites are starting to coalesce around Rubio (aka Romney II). And as we all know, nominating Romney II will just get us Clinton II.

Sorry but Trump didn’t force Teddy to send out shaming letters in Iowa and get chastised in writing from the Iowas Secretary of State. Trump didn’t force Teddy to start up the dirty trix agains’t Carson or run around spouting lies about Trump such as Trump wants to keep Obamacare. Cruz brought this on himself.

“This daily mud slinging fight is terribly destructive to Conservative hopes.”

Hmm, “conservative hopes”, is that like how people hope Donald will magically become conservative?

Tomorrow is unimportant. Doing his level best to destroy the character of Cruz pretty much made a V.P. spot impossible, and may well have hurt him down the line in future elections. But, The Blowhole couldn’t care less.

I do wonder, however, what his sock-puppets and drooling imbecile followers will say when he picks Amnesty Boy Rubio as his V.P. How will they square that one?

Donald needs Cruz to stay in this race. He’s playing with fire.

No, unfortunately it isn’t. I am very unhappy with some of his votes.

Also I watched him lie about Trump - Cruz said that Trump had just said the opposite of what I saw and heard Trump say. And Ted heard Trump say it. It was bizarre.

And then there is the born in Canada thing...even if he were a saint I wouldn’t vote for him for POTUS. I don’t think this country should go down a road the founders specified not to go down. We played with fire electing Obama and we’ve been burning ever since.

I’d like to think Cruz is worthy of a position that doesn’t require the stringent natural born citizen standard but after some of the stuff he’s done I just am not seeing it right now.

Nothing. Trump changes his positions and statements like other people change their underwear.

I cannot as easily overlook what TRump himself says.
................................................

Then you are not listening to what Trump says. You are listening to Cruzers’ distortions including the media.

He is a Conservative. And now that he is focused on politics, his natural development will be to become more Conservative on those political issues that he has ignored in the past. As I have posted elsewhere today:

I consider Trump far more Conservative--as a personality--than all of those the Ricketts have contributed to, with the exception of Ted Cruz, who is as Conservative as I am, and thus a tad more Conservative than Donald Trump. Trump, on the other hand, is far more conservatively oriented than the shallow analysts understand. Indeed, the point that is missed, is this:

Up until recently, Trump was focused on great building ventures. He was not focused on political ventures--and preoccupied with building, only casually observed the political drama, comedy or tragedy. The former comments that keep being thrown at him, were simply relative small talk, considering his non-focus on the subject matter.

Now what does a great builder do? He starts with a conceived foundation--based on experience--and step by step, drawing on the architectural experiences of the ages, he builds the subject of his focus. This is a very clear metaphor for the source of American Conservatism--the step by step construction of a political society, by the descendants of the original settlers, who we call the Founding Fathers.

Just thinkin' out loud here, with the full realization that the Trump-is-a-liar team and the Cruz-is-a-liar team probably won't go for it.

I defy you to find the Trump-is-a-liar meme. The Cruz camp and any supporters here at FR have NEVER stooped as low as the vulgarian Trump and bandied about the term of LIAR.

Trump is a phony (conservative, Republican, or Christian)
OR
Trump is a flip-flopper
OR
Trump is a liberal

All of which are true for anyone not living under the stupor of Trump (and even some Trumpsters acknowledge the above, but don't really care because they believe Trump "will shake up the Establishment").

Accusing someone of lying in a professional setting is far, far worse. And infinitely more juvenile.

That would be silly for Cruz. For one thing hardly any of the vote has taken place yet so assumptions that he’s toast are just dumb. For another thing any for of “alliance” results in career death, he’s either SCOTUS and done with politics, or VP which usually is the end of the line too. He’s young. Keep fighting until the numbers really are insurmountable, learn how to run a campaign, come back later. Even if he has to jump ahead 16 years for another shot that just makes him 61, still well within the age group for the office.

A promise for Cruz on the USSC would be the only way I’d even consider voting Trump, and even then I probably wouldn’t. In any case it is wishful thinking. Cruz is unstable, he’s an illegal alien, he can’t get along with anyone, no one likes him, etc. Trump might be good at flip-flopping when it suits him, but it’d be hard to do that much of a 180 when you’ve said more positive things about dictators than you have about Cruz.

Seems to me Trump got where he is by NOT keeping his mouth shut about the Media and the Establishment. Political Correctness is just about stomped out and will be gone forever when Trump wins.

Trump is the anti-establishment candidate. He believes he has that market wrapped up. He needs the establishment GOP to get behind him if he’s going to have any chance of winning the general. For this reason, he will choose an establishment approved moderate. Say hello to VP Kasich.

I don’t want him on the Supreme Court. he would be the first one to vote that foreigners can be president. Look at his votes against American sovereignty! He is in the pocket of the New World Order and would be another traitor Roberts.

Then you are not listening to what Trump says.

That is an incredibly condescending thing to say. His business on Cruz being NBC, his business on the "great things" Planned Parenthood does, his support for ethanol mandates and teh expansion of them, his support for using eminent domain for private sports arenas I have heard first hand, in context.

He is a big government right-winger, and he loves this country. He is not a Constitutionalist, nor has he ever claimed to be. I can support him as a very distant secondary choice only if Ted Cruz, a full-spectrum conseravtive, does not win the nomination.

But please do not insult me by saying if I don't agree with you or have the same prioorities as you that I wasn't listening closely.
