But getting back on topic, pizza became popular nationally first. It wasn't until the 1970's that bagels started to become nationally well-known.

When did Bialy become nationally known?

pizza from chicago (deep dish-1978), bagels from NY and diner lemon meringue pie 6 inches high (probably around 1963), philly cheesesteak, Alaskan King Crab legs shipped in 1 day from Oregon and grilled,...

good stuff USA. Let me know what to have when I go south or west.

I would have to say pizza. I really miss real NY pizza. I have to stay away from enriched wheat so that puts me off almost all pizza.

Although there is nothing like a fresh onion bagel spread thickly with cream cheese, sprinkled with capers, then topped with nice slabs of wild Alaskan smoked salmon. (Cheap lox is often farmed and thus not too healthy)

If anyone goes to Syracuse NY, you have to try one of the world's best pizzas: Twin Trees.

Their sausage and mushroom pizza is to die for.

I have had great pizza all over the world. This place is not only unique, it is damn good pizza.

You can keep the pizza.

I’ll take an everything bagel toasted and smothered with veggie cream cheese and a potato kinish on the side . I don’t normally eat bread but I love a good deli bagel .

Not in large size, but you can have 2 small ones.

Best Bagels are at Eli's Bread Factory, uptown.

I never tried them, but H&H Bagels on Broadway on upper west side were fantastic. Had long lines every day in a very wealthy, largely Jewish area. They were forced out of business around 5 or 10 years ago.

Chiles rellenos. Mmmmm.

Have developed an additon to poblanos. I grill about 30 early in the week, and use them with almost everything else we cook.

This is a wonderful diversion, and YES, it's PIZZA for me !

If you can't decide, have both....

Sacrilege! A "pizza bagel" is neither.
