In a country where the majority confess to be either Catholic or Christian, the idea of a temple dedicated to the devil is blasphemous at best.
Yet despite much criticism, a self-proclaimed sorcerer has made it real in Montenegro, a town in the Colombian department of QuindÃo.
VÃctor Damián Rozo, real name Héctor Londoño Villegas, told the country's Semana magazine that his temple cost $200,000, money that he says he obtained from multiple sponsors abroad.
The 'Luciferian Seeds of Light Temple', does have legal status under Colombian law, and authorities have been able to look into activities being undertaken in the temple.
However, Carlos Eduardo Osorio, governor of QuindÃo, and the archbishop of nearby Armenia, Pablo Emiro Salas, emphasized that the cult should recognize that satanism is prohibited under the national Constitution.
Rozo responded to the argument, stating that his object of worship is Lucifer, the angel expelled from heaven, not Satan. However local publication the Crónica del QuindÃo have outed Rozo as a lier, stating that his use of multiple satanic symbols, like the Sigil of Baphomet and the inverted cross, refer to both religious figures.
That newspaper further stated that he contradicts himself, as Rozo has been witnessed making sacrifices, such as those seen during his first appearance on local channel Televisa.
Mouthing off
Rozo says that he is rich, well travelled and that he has received lots of contributions, although he later added that he doesn't know exactly where the money comes from.
"I don't ask if they (the contributors) are from the Sinaloa cartel or the Zetas," he said to the magazine.
"A lot of people contact me and it's very hard to know if they are or not," he added.
Semana later unearthed that despite his wealth claims, Rozo's wife Yeimi Florez remains one of beneficiaries of state subsidies in health, education and employment.
Rozo explained that the couple don't pay for a health plan, "because it's bad, and we prefer to pay private doctors."
His photos taken in Las Vegas and the Great Wall in China, plastered all over his Facebook account, are, indeed, false, as Colombia's Crónica revealed.

Yet is Rozo just another money-grabbing religious charlatan? The self-proclaimed priest denies such claims, as Las2Orillas cites, his temple "is not open to beggars, but to the most powerful people in the country."
Without the eloquence of other priests inducing ecstatic states amongst their congressional audience, Rozo instead promises wealth and lots of sex to his devotees. The self-made priest has said that he will never allow sacrifices or acts of lust within the temple, while he expects to host a convention of the parishioners of Beelzebub within in the next few months.
Shouldn’t it be “Seeds of Darkness?”
Within a few years, these will be in every major Democrat city in America. Count on it.
