Former NFL player Bill Romanowski still hasn't learned to keep his mouth shut.
After Panthers quarterback Cam Newton aburptly walked out on his postgame press conference, Romanowski tweeted: "You will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn't revolve around you, boy!"
Romanowski's use of the word "boy" â a racially inflammatory term â was met with heavy criticism, including from some African-American athletes.
Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson tweeted at Romanowksi, "Boy? You never watched Good Times Bill?"

Former Bengals cornerback Rico Murray added, "Cam needs to bite the bullet and take what's coming. But @billromanowksi is a disgrace."

Who are you calling a Polack?
What a boy.
Romanowski should’ve done what Donald Trump does: refuse to back down to political correctness. Or...he could’ve chosen a less loaded term to begin with. Everyone knows what a spoiled brat is & it doesn’t have the racist taint of ‘boy’.
Twitter is such a an idiotic invention. It inspires grown ups to act like schoolyard bullies.
I would have called him princess instead..or maybe cupcake.
All that Cam left out when he flopped down on the sidelines was the flailing of his arms and legs. That would have completed the moniker “boy” with an extra “spoiled rotten” thrown in for special effect.
Not so much necessary here. Unless a person is a troll, of course.
But say you are on an place that is basically adversarial to your point of view. You're trying to educate the little darlings, of course, and teach them to think.
Best to do it subtly. Drink is not conducive to this desire.
Like beauty, racism is in the eye of the beholder.
Juvenile was the word for the loser.
Nobody. Retracted and corrected in later post.
He was not behaving like a man, period. He was behaving like a spoiled brat who believed he deserved the win without earning it. Affirmative Action strikes at the NFL.
I actually believed that the Panthers would run over the Broncos; but, the Bronco defense was really on their game, and along with the mistakes of the Panthers, proved to be Cam Newton's undoing.
You are right.
Only "sometimes"?
Yeah Cam’s interview showed immaturity but I’m not gonna pile on too harshly. I’m sure he knows it as much as anyone, but then again I can almost understand why he didn’t feel talkative immediately post-game. He’s a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve, extremely high highs and down in the dumps lows. Give it a day or so to sink in and let emotions settle.
I’m not a big fan of pressers being forced right after a game, though I understand why the league (er media) needs them. Cam might have been just as well off taking a page from Beast and simply saying “I’m only here so I don’t get fined”.
So Cam handled it poorly post-game, but I’ll grant him some slack and see how he reacts in a day or two.
On Parris Island I was called ‘boy’ by a Drill Instructor who was probably younger than I was. Yeah, it was insulting, but it made me want to work harder.
I just signed on to a senior softball team that I've played against for the past several years and they have a black guy (I'll call him "K")that I've chatted with on several occasions and he's a super nice guy.
We had our first team meeting and lunch last week and evidently the manager also picked up three other black guys.
Well, "K" appears to be one of those guys who loves throwing "nigga" out every chance he gets when referring to himself and the other black guys on the team. I guess it's ok for them to use the word but I get very uncomfortable when I hear it used. It is what it is I guess......
How long before the use of the word son becomes offensive, because it is taking the place of boy. I am middle age and my parents still call my brothers and I boys. And anyone talking to them and asking about us, asks about the boys. Chill, chill chill everybody.
I am sure if Romanowski was Von Miller and would have had Newton on his back staring into his grill, he would have called him boy.
