Gaga did a fine job. But Whitney Houston singing the Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl set the standard that all others are measured by. IMHO

I agree that Whitney’s version was the best. However, I think that of all the ones since WH, I like Gaga’s the best. She actually has a good voice.

in an interview done afterwards, Gaga says that is her favorite too, and one she used to sing along with as a young girl. Dream fulfilled.

Lady Gaga did wonderfully well—much better than I thought.

This version, sung by Whitney Houston at Super Bowl 25 in Tampa, 1991, still brings me to tears:

This was during the Gulf War. This was before Rodney King, OJ, Bill and Hillary Clinton, MonicaGate, Sept. 11th, Obama.

We went on to win the Gulf War, and eight months later the Soviet Union fell apart. Race relations were at their best.

It has been a long 25 years.
