The Interior Ministry announced the arrests Saturday, after journalists from dotmsr, a local website, used a hidden camera to capture horse carriage drivers selling two stones for 250 Egyptian pounds ($32).

One of the men, whose face was blurred in the video, bragged about selling stones to foreign tourists for up to 500 euros.

Check the date stamp. If it says ‘2700 BC’, it’s probably real.

I’d be more impressed if they cut the testicles off the islamo rapists.

All those nice big stones in Cairo especially the white ones came from you know where. They passed a law much later and these guys got caught ... this time.

Marble? The casing stones are not marble, but polished limestone.

In AD 1303, a massive earthquake loosened many of the outer casing stones, which were then carted away by Bahri Sultan An-Nasir Nasir-ad-Din al-Hasan in 1356 to build mosques and fortresses in nearby Cairo. Many more casing stones were removed from the great pyramids by Muhammad Ali Pasha in the early 19th century to build the upper portion of his Alabaster Mosque in Cairo not far from Giza.

That is the theory, but actually there's a mystery to it. The outer stones were all interlocked from the bottom up, using their sheer weight to hold them in place. So logically, they were easiest to remove from the top down. Yet the queens pyramid still has marble casings at the top, the bottom casings all removed. It would be incredibly difficult to take them off from the bottom, as the weight of the block on the top of the one you wanted would be pressing down on your efforts the whole time. And the great pyramid has no casings at all.

An alternate theory is that some sort of air blast from above literally blew them off. Look up the Tunguska Event for an example. In that case, all the people had to do was carry away the blown off casing stones. And the pyramids do exhibit signs of having received some sort of shock.

An earthquake wouldn’t have loosened the outer casing stones, but seated them more firmly in place per the design of the pyramid itself. The pyramids settle inward under stress, and become more seated, not less. In fact, the interior of the pyramid structure may actually be rock rubble: http://www.ancient-origins.net/news-general/engineer-releases-new-theory-how-egypts-pyramids-were-built-001215

Well, take it up with the Egyptians - that’s their official story. The stones were apparently lose to begin with.

Ancient-origins? Someone’s theory? Really.

Wiki is going to give the standard story. A lot of people find problems with it. I’m one of them, you’re not.

LOL, a flying pyramid!

Well hell, mebbe. In a universe where Obama can be reelected and Hillary still has over 40% of the vote, why not? Compared to that, flying pyramids are nothing...
