You weren’t lost. You were in North central Texas.

Tuck a DeLorme Gazetteer in the seat-back pocket and you’ll never be lost.

Next time order one off amazon or print out your route from MapQuest.
I have GPS in my car, but have hardly ever used it. Don’t want to get reliant on it.
Glad you did get home safe and sound, even if distraught.

Seems like a good time to remind folks...keep a supply of paper maps handy along with a compass.

It could save your life one day. GPS ain't forever.

Everyone laughs at me because I always carry detailed, orienteer maps and a compass with me.

I suspect you might have been at Fry’s. We live at 635 just south of there less than 1/2 mile.

What brand of receiver? There is only one satellite currently down in the constellation.

If you think Ft. Worth is bad, you'd better never ever go to San Antonio. It's a given even with GPS that you'll get lost there.

The biggest problem with Ft. Worth is that you don't get any advanced notice that your exit is coming up.

GPS isn’t entirely science; it’s part magic. There’s a particularly evil witch, named Zelda, in the hills of East Tennessee who works for the GPS manufacturers. She kidnaps innocent young women, strips them of their souls, trains the souls of the lost women to give GPS instructions, and imprisons one in each GPS unit. The units periodically fail because the slaves occasionally rebel. That’s what happened to you.
