TRUE: In February 2016, a rumor started circulating online that Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz had said that he was a "Christian first" and an "American second." While these words were a genuine quote from the Texas, they were typically presented in a manner that lacked context. The quote first appeared in a 20 January 2016 article by Politico about a campaign stop Cruz made in New Hampshire. Cruz was asked to respond to comments that former Kansas senator Robert Dole had made to the New York Times in a recent interview questioning Cruz's loyalty to the GOP, and he responded by saying that his allegiance to the United States and to conservative principles trumped his party membership (and that his commitment to his religion ranked higher than them all): ["It is exactly right that in terms of who I am, I am a Christian first. I am an American second. I'm a conservative third. And I'm a Republican fourth. And I'll tell ya, there are a lot of Americans who feel the same way."] We've found no video that captured this remark from Cruz, but the quote was also documented by the Washington Post. Cruz has made no secret of his plans to court conservative Christians during his presidential campaign.  He announced his run in March 2015 at Christian college Liberty University, saying he hopes to fight the federal government's "assault" on religious liberty, and he also pledged to "defend the sanctity of life" and "uphold the sacrament of marriage."

I know what the Carson campaign said and I know what the Cruz campaign said.
The fact is I think Carson knows his chances in NH are slim to nill. Therefore, he isn’t going to spend time going there ( or maybe he will, but I’m still waiting. He was in DC for the Prayer breakfast today, NH is just one hour away by plane).
His telling CNN that he was going to Florida to “get a fresh set of clothes” gives his opponents the impression that he is giving up. At least for New Hampshire ( I know I’d get that impression if I heard it for the first time ).
I can assure Dr. Carson that he would have no trouble finding some fresh set of clothes in New Hampshire.
Political reporters and strategists have no idea what to make of Carson’s decision. The most obvious theory is that he is preparing to drop out, but his campaign insists that is not the case.
It is unfortunate that Cruz ( and also Rubio ) staffers and supporters ( e.g. Steve King ) misinterpreted it as quitting and posted it as such.
But to say that there was MALICIOUS INTENT on the part of Cruz requires a lot of knowledge of his intent.
You may not believe Cruz, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
And again, where is Dr. Carson in NH?
He went to Washington DC today to attend the Prayer breakfast. NH is but an hour flight from DC.
Is he going to NH or not? If not, is he giving up on the state? If so, how is the report about him “dropping out” ( at least when it comes to NH ) inaccurate?

My post is a reference to when Trump tried to chunk money into a plate at a Protestant church where they pass around the Communion (bread or whatever they use) instead of accepting the Body of Christ at the rail. Apparently, you didn’t hear about it.

When have we not had one? Everyone running is a Christian.
It would be better, long term, for them to learn English, than to have things translated into obscure local languages. English would allow them better access into the world economy.
Being Catholic (where we go up to the altar rail for communion) I might have made the same mistake.
If participating in the world economy were the ultimate goal, you may be right.
But, that isn’t the goal. The goal is for a person to be able to read God’s love letter to him, in a person’s heart language, the one he understands best, and so be made righteous by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. I don’t think I can explain it any better. Reading the Bible, or anything for that matter, outside of a person’s own language misses the nuances and connotations of the primary culture. So, long term, the best thing is to preserve the languages before a culture is swallowed up and forgotten. Even one person is valuable.
I am not expecting to persuade you; I would be very surprised if I had. I’m merely putting forth a different viewpoint. Feeling as you do, I am not expecting you to become my neighbor here any time soon, nor am I asking for you to make an investment. Just don’t try to hinder me, please.
In order to capture the nuances and connotations, the translator would need to be a native speaker of the destination language, and also very fluent in a language where there is an existing Bible.
So, regardless, for each language group you will need to develop people who know English (or whatever) very well to serve as translators. Which means you will need to have language classes.
