While global stock markets fail to rebound from recent lows, the US military is using every available distraction to build up the military presence in Iraq, and as the US defense secretary admitted moments ago: â¢CARTER SAYS 3,700 U.S. `BOOTS ON THE GROUND' IN IRAQ TODAY
Considering a typical battalion has anywhere between 300 and 800 soldiers, at what point does the Pentagon stop calling it the politically palatable "boots on the ground" and start calling it what it really is: an army?
And how long until someone asks when Congress will approve what at this point amounts to yet another invasion force?
And they’ve made no progress? What are they doing there on the ground?
That’s one tough JV team.
More American men to the meat grinder so we can make the middle-east safe for them to flood into Europe.
3,700 boots or 3,700 pair of boots?
They are not making progress and the military is asking for more troops...
More’s the question - what are they doing there?
Article doesn’t talk about progress. Syria is the real bad place.
Wonder if Trump will call for Obama’s impeachment over Iraq?

The answer would be no...
We had Iraq and obummer gave it up. He’s not going to go back in to re-win anything. This is all show.
A local (FT Riley) soldier died there last week...of ‘non-combat related injuries’. He was in a field artillery unit (not SF or anything like that)...which also made me wonder exactly what we are doing over there. Field Artillery is the most conventional of conventional warfare. At best, he was training Iraqis - which is foolish because ISIS keeps stealing their Howitzers. At worse, we actually have troops within FA range of ISIS.
Need boots on Obama’s face.
That's nearly brigade strength.
Its not an Army, more like a Brigade. Big difference.
At best, he was training Iraqis - which is foolish because ISIS keeps stealing their Howitzers. ....................... Train the Kurds. ISIS won’t steal from them. In fact turn the FA over to their women, and ISIS will keep their distance.
I think there's a typo...s/b 600 to 800. My battery at Fort Bliss had over 300.
3,700 soldiers = 5-6 battalions, more than enough for a brigade.
Boots on the ground could be advisors and combat support units to help rebuild and provide medical assistance. It could also mean air transport support and maintenance. It doesn’t always mean combat arms for offensive ops.
ohmygosh...how awful. That kind of information isn’t being made public anymore. I don’t understand why we’re still training Iraqi soldiers. The Kurds, and even Assad’s official Syrian army, would be a better bet. That’s the impression I get from what I read anyway.
But, but my lib friends just posted on their FB how Dear Leader had brought everyone home from Iraq. It’s not possible.
