An Indian teenager was struck and killed after he tried to take a photo of himself in front of an oncoming train, police said Monday, in the latest deadly accident involving selfies.
The passenger train ran over the boy shortly after he stepped onto railway line to snap the picture in the southern city of Chennai, while walking home with friends on Sunday evening.
âIt was a freak accident. More youngsters are now addicted to taking selfies,â railway police officer S Ramuthai from the Chennai suburb of Tambaram said.

A train traveling down a track is not a "freak accident" it's physics.
I am thinking Darwin had a point after all.
Teenage boys - doing stupid and dangerous things around the world!
Did he get the pic?
Is this Indian as in “How, Kemosabe” or Indiana as in “Welcome to Quickie Mart, how may I be helping you”?
Freak accident!? That would be defined by the train jumping the tracks and running after the boy.
heard sirens on the train track howl naked gettin’ nuder,
A dumb boy’s been hit by a local commuter
just from walking with his back turned
to the train that was coming so slow.

He probably did it to impress a teen-aged girl.
Darwinism.
Male brains don’t fully mature until about age 26. Hence young men are more than willing to put themselves in danger in the military, police work, other hazardous jobs and doing stupid things to prove their manhood. Hence spinal injury clinics like the Shepard Center in Atlanta see about 85-90% young men vs young women.

Seems like every pier on the great lakes has a list of names in memorial. Two thirds of the names are teenage boys and the remaining third are the adult males who tried to save them.
As a teenager I would have found the waves irresistible but as an adult even small breakers just make me think I don’t want to be cold and wet.

Inquiring minds.......
And one less future Indian driver for me to worry about in North Texas. They either drive way too slow, or way too fast, there's no in-between with these drivers. They also like to text while driving, too.
“Call for Mr. Darwin...Call for Mr. Darwin...!”
One less that will send me a resume for a job they are not qualified to do.
