Microsoft's Bing just called the first four primaries for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton

In March, Microsoft said it would use its Bing technology to predict the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. On Tuesday, Microsoft jumped in with both feet, calling the first four Republican primaries for Donald Trump.

Microsoft’s Bing predicts that Trump will win the Republican primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada relatively easily, topping Ted Cruz in all four states. Hillary Clinton is expected to win three out of the first four Democratic primaries—Iowa, South Carolina, and Nevada—losing New Hampshire to Bernie Sanders.

Microsoft said it used data from polls, prediction markets, and anonymized and aggregated search-engine queries to predict its results—some of the methods that it’s used to predict the outcomes of everything from “American Idol” to the World Cup. It isn’t always right: Bing never predicted the Denver Broncos to play the New England Patriots in the NFL playoffs, let alone beat the New England Patriots—Bing's erroneous pick to win the Super Bowl.

Data mining/harvesting results are very valuable, and companies which are good with it are big money makers.

Their end results bring in big bucks from all types of companies, political parties, individuals and governmental agencies lining up to buy the mined data.

Add real focus groups, not the phony Faux ones, we read about on FR, to the Data Mining results, real trends can be captured basically in real time not some manipulated stastical bs routine that is often out of date when it finally appears with built in biases.

Do us a favor and ping us how this Bing data works out.

They are actually serious but it seems a little weird to me, especially considering that Microsoft will be tallying the totals in Iowa.

Yeah

Why should 3 or 4 relatively small states be able to choose the nominee for all of us! We need a national primary day!

How many times did Bing Blue Screen before it got an answer? Every time it came to Hillary, it probably crashed. ;-)

Go Trump!

Pardon me if I get my future Sci Fi histories crossed.

Wasn't it so at some point in the Azimov Foundation Universe expressed that early in the space exploration age that Atomics were universally banned as well as computers?

Maybe that was Dune, or some other collection, but I was thinking it was Foundation.

Asimov wrote about all of these fantastic science fiction worlds, and yet he was afraid of flying. Go figure.

"We need a national primary day!"

Why do we need a primary, when Bing and google can pick the winners for us?
