The Washington Post ^ | January 29, 2016 | Danielle Paquette and Drew Harwell

President Obama proposed a new rule Friday that would require every large company in America to report employees' pay based on race and gender, an effort to reduce longstanding pay inequities for women and minorities.

Exactly correct. That is why small companies remain small. They would like to grow but the consequences dictate their decisions.

Zero is wrong. All this will do is paint targets on extraneous, wholly worthless employees. Makes things clearer when a reduction in force is announced. Makes it easier to remove the chaff from the wheat. Underworked and overpaid positions are escorted out first.

So when are white males going to have their prejudice removed from the female of any race preferred over our gender, sex and race? We want our reparations in this generation.

It’s not new.

What’s new is how brazenly they are using datamining to force private business to comply with the social engineering of the left.

Businesses have no one but themselves to blame.

When they accepted the government mandate to hold and force employees to sit through obnoxious, offensive “diversity training” and “sensitivity training,” rather than tell the government to eff off because they’ll run their own business the way they see fit, they opened the pandora’s box allowing the government to micromanage every aspect of their businesses.

By the way, the pay gap is a left-concocted lie.

The data they use to come up with the “gap” does not take into account actual hours worked per year (hint: men work far more hours than their female counterparts on average) and it also compares young women who have only been working for a short period of time with men who have been in their careers for many years.

The last I heard when all these factors are taken out is that the real gap is about .06 cents on the dollar. And that disparity is an appreciation/merit benefit that companies usually pay to men because they are the ones holding down the fort taking on the work of multiple employees, etc. when women cannot work.

You’ve made an important point.

If this were about “women and minorities”, then the government would be collecting information about the “sex and race” of employees. “Sex” is biological, and binary.

However, since they’re collecting information about “gender” (a social construct that, as you say, means whatever anyone wants it to mean), it’s likely that there will be grievances by the whole GLTB**** “gender”
spectrum.

Don’t fall into the language trap: if you mean to differentiate between (biologically-determined) men and women, you need to distinguish between the two “sexes” — not “genders”.

Equal pay for equal work? Sign me up. I will be able to reduce my workweek hours from 50 to 10, and I can start collecting the $400k+ salary that Obama now collects for his 10-hr work weeks.

And oh, by the way, you ain’t seen nothing yet when it comes to what the government is going to do with all their datamining.

Everything that you think happens in private between you and your doctor, if it is captured in an EHR application is being rolled up to the government and that data is collected in a format that can be shared across all the agencies.

Did you ask the doc for a Xanax for that cross-country flight because flying makes you nervous?

Guess what.

That may very easily show up as being on anti-anxiety medication and used against you by the NICS system to deny you the purchase of a firearm.

Give it time. They’re putting it all in place.

Did you know that in EHR applications tobacco usage is listed as a “disorder”?

Your doctor plays along with this to get kickbacks from the government in a program called Meaningful Use.

As usual, the Democrat / Liberal / Communist / Socialist party has not even the faintest interest in the negative effects of the principle of unintended consequences. They just skip merrily down the road, leaving destruction in their wake.

Had no idea, but not surprising.

If my employer asks me, then I will report, in the immortal words of the great [Canadian] Shania Twain, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"

They have no right to tell me which bathroom to use or which gender to call myself. I get to pick, right, is that not what I have been led to believe? In fact I am a DEMIGIRL I guess, and I just feel differently at work than at home. There can't be discrimination by employers when there is no such thing as a gender.

(In fact, they really have no right to tell me my race either! Yeah! I think there is probably a drop of African American blood in me too!)

Maybe I am just getting emasculated by the feds telling me to fess up? I don't know...but I now have realized that now, for work purposes, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman! An African Woman!

So I guess there will be more one AA women working at my place of employment than anyone expected.

(Oh, yeah, I almost forgot "the rules," me being a woman and all...

This is the wise woman who uttered those words of inclusive wisdom, posted only to comply with the rules:

The numbers mean nothing without context of what they do, how long they have been there, and if their careers have had ‘breaks’. Assuming everything is equal is assinine and not reality.

It is as dumb as the body mass index measuring a person’s health.

Exactly.

Yet another leftist/socialist government solution in search of a problem.

Absolutely nothing stood in my way of making a six or more figure income, other than my own personal and individual choices, and an aversion to risk, after becoming a parent.

I've also known many men who have consciously declined to step higher on the financial ladder/treadmill, due to their individual lifestyle choices.

In the civilian business world, there is always a multi-layered level of private, individual negotiations with an employer.
The transient top earner, is usually not the most valued employee, to the employer.

Nothing against the higher flyer, but if I decide to pursue a different path, with slightly lower pay, but the perk of extremely secure job security, on my own terms...just how will those government numbers measure that?

Most likely outcome...

Aside from the endless lawsuits.

Women and minorities paid more? (Proven time and time again women make less than men for personal choices and the fact that men and women go in to different careers

OR. Men will just be paid less.

completely confused...

0bama can’t legally access IRS and Census data on individuals.
He has to go through this Illegal collection of info to punish private business.

To get college loans, you have to fill out the ‘Financial Assistance’ form to see if you qualify for a scholarship. This is the reason college has become so expensive. All most students get is a loan. Predatory lending at it’s finest.

It gave the gov’t and schools the parents’ financial info they didn’t have in the past. Now they know how much money they can suck out and not kill the host.

Zero really has no clue about the paperwork involved in running a business. Most of what he wants is already submitted on quarterly payroll reports, including name, ssn, gross pay, withholding status, etc. No race or gender preferences tho, (which are/were illegal to even ask about). If Zero spent as much time on the economy as he does spinning his wheels thinking up pandering busywork to keep his buddies in caviar ....
