Trump's Veterans Stunt Is Boldly Going Where Many Failed Campaigns Have Gone Before [false article]

Trump has to figure out who the money it raises is going, and organizations aren't exactly lining up behind him for cash. The Trump camp in an email to supporters said Thursday's event would "benefit Veteran Organizations." As to which entities it will specifically be helping, it's a mystery.

Paul Rieckhoff, founder and CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, took to Twitter Wednesday to announce that his organization had not and would not be accepting donations from the GOP frontrunner.

"Since we've gotten so many questions: no, @IAVA has not heard from the Trump campaign and we have no idea what groups he's involving tomorrow," he wrote. He later added, "If offered, @IAVA will decline donations from Trump's event. We need strong policies from candidates, not to be used for political stunts."

The Wounded Warrior Project has also denied involvement with Trump's plans. A spokesperson for the organization said in an email, "We are not aware of any fundraising efforts on our behalf with Mr. Donald Trump."

VoteVets.org, which calls itself the largest progressive group of veterans in American, issued a statement to Trump: "Don't hide from Megyn Kelly behind us."

Neither Trump representatives nor the event organizer responded to request for information on the organizations to which it will donate the funds raised on Thursday.

Moreover, Trump's record on veteran support across the board is mixed, and his rally has brought past examples of his missteps and shortcomings to the forefront.

Historically, Trump's veteran support bark has been stronger than his bite. From 2009 to 2013, the Donald J. Trump Foundation donated $5.5 million to charities, of which only $57,000 went to organizations that directly benefit military veterans or their families, according to Forbes.

Trump may have to hand out the money himself. He should do it at the VA!

Shameless liars strike again.

Correct to the lies from this GOPE media mouthpiece.

List of 22 Vets groups that took part last night in Trumps event.

https://assets.donaldjtrump.com/MILITARY_CHARITIES_SHEET_FOR_MR._TRUMP.pdf

A lot has been made about the fact that money donated was first directed into Trump’s foundation.

Simply put, in order for donations to be exempt from federal taxes, they must go into a 501(C) account.

There was not enough time for the Trump organization to set up a 501(C) specifically for this charity event. So, the money for veterans groups will be distributed through Trump’s 501(C) foundation.

1 Vets group, IAVA, rushed out to refuse to take part in Trumps event. Odd since they were never asked to be part of it.

The leader of Iava biggest priority was repeal of Dont ask Don’t tell and full acceptance of homosexuality in the military. On Fox News yesterday he was forced to admit he think Hillary Clinton is the best candidate on Vets issues.

Think that pretty much explains the agenda of IAVA. IAVA raised $6 million last year and spent only $80,000 on helping Vets. Its nothing but a PR front for a Leftist political action group.

Poor little dp, his candidate sucks so bad he is reduced to posting infantile snarks about other candidates because he has nothing worthwhile he can post about his candidate

Agreed. The noisy naysayer org is more about being a Soros mouth piece whose interface with veterans is subservient to its allegiance to Soros.

Didn’t Trump donate over $1M of his own money & raise a total of over $5M at the event?

I’m sure those amounts pale in comparison to the amounts you have donated, right?

With Trump’s $1M, the total was actually $6M

The One’s attempt to disrupt the debate was an utter failure. He raised money from his friends (through intimidation? his usual method)? Not a particularly large amount. The One’s followers think he beat the GOPe because it wasn’t the most watched debate although there were more views last night than at the last debate with The One present.

The total Trump donated from between 2008 and 2012 certainly pales by comparison.
