Trump Silent On Abortion On 43rd Roe Anniversary, Pro- Lifer Challenges Him to Speak Out
Life News ^ | 1/22/2016 | Steve Ertelt

Posted on 01/22/2016 4:11:24 PM PST by conservativejoy

Businessman Donald Trump says he is pro-life and wants to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. He's vocal on just about every topic and is ready to offer a quip at a moment's notice on anything that concerns him, the presidential campaign of politics.

But Trump is remarkably silent today on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. His campaign has issued no statement from him on the 58 million unborn babies killed in abortion, he's not addressed pro-life topics today in any interviews and the prolific tweeter hasn't said a word on Twitter or even RTd a statement or picture from anyone else opposing abortion.

His silence has resulted in a top pro-life U.S. Senator challenging him to speak out for unborn children on today - the day that the majority of Americans who are pro-life solemnly recall the dreadful Supreme Court decision that ushered in an era of virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason.

SIGN THE NEW PLEDGE: I Pledge to Vote for a Pro-Life Candidate for President

Senator Joni Ernst, a pro-life Republican who happens to hail from the site of the first presidential caucus, Iowa, told the Weekly Stndard that Trump needs to speak out. She also wants Trump to talk about where he stands on the monumentally important issue of Supreme Court judges - key to whether or not America will suffer from abortion on demand another 43 years.

Ahead of her speech at the March for Life on Friday, Iowa GOP senator Joni Ernst said that Donald Trump should tell voters where he stands on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that declared a right to abortion-on-demand.

"It is extremely important—extremely important” to have a president who would "appoint judges that understand that Roe v. Wade really wasn't a decision that was based on the Constitution," Ernst told THE WEEKLY STANDARD during an interview in her Senate office Friday morning.

Asked if Trump should tell voters his position on the issue, Ernst replied that Republican candidates "need to spell that out. They should know where they stand. They're running for the office of president. They should know where they stand on this issue because it is so important."

Unfortunately, Trump's campaign is not responding to pro-life news sources like The Weekly Standard about more details on his pro-life positions on abortion and Supreme Court judges.

"Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks has not replied to emails from TWS asking for clarification on these points," TWS reporter John McCormack wrote.

If Trump wants pro-life voters to take his views seriously, he needs to speak our more frequently and more thoroughly on abortion - especially on a day when America is mourning 58 million aborted babies.

Cruz will fight to get as much pro life legislation as possible passed. He also has said that on day one he would have his attorney general start an investigation of planned parenthood. He might not be able to get abortion completely banned but he would use the bully pulpit of the white house to persuade the country that every life deserves protection.

On the other hand, Trump just ignored the anniversary of Roe v. Wade because he apparently cares very little about the unborn.

You are a Muslim.

Nope, he's not a Muslim, but Trump is Pro-Abortion, in fact, he thinks he can pick winners and losers where the life of unborn babies is concerned:

JANUARY 2015

First he states he is in support of Abortion for Rape, Incest and Health of the Mother.

Then Trump was asked about a abortion by a woman being pregnant, and not from rape or incest, and Trump answered that it depends on how far along the baby is.

“It depends when”

INTERVIEWER: “So say a woman is pregnant, and it is not in any of those exceptions [rape/incest]categories, and she chooses to have an abortion” TRUMP: “it depends when, it depends when”

What the next president will do is appoint Supreme Court justices. No change is needed in Congress to make progress on Life. The Supreme Court is the only place Roe v Wade can be overturned. On Election Day, this is what we will be looking at:

Ginsberg age 83
Scalia age 80
Kennedy age 80
Breyer age 78

This is not the time for bullsh*t. If the next president appoints the wrong people, unlimited abortion will be the law for the next 25 years (that is how much younger Kagan and Sotomayor are than this aging group of four).

Cruz was a law clerk on the Supreme Court for Justice Renquist. For a Life first voter, it is an easy choice between these two.

Okay kudos to Ted, So Ted Cruz made a statement but nobody else? I would say that’s a plus for Ted and neutral for everyone else.

Well, it's Trump actual stated position that makes it a negative for Trump.

While Trump state's he is Pro-Life, once you get into what he actually, specifically supports, he is Pro-Abortion.

I am certainly skeptical but if I actually saw Trump passionately opposing abortion he could convince me fairly quickly that he cares about the unborn. However, I have not seen an ounce of passion for his newly adopted pro life views. Honestly, Trump doesn’t even really seem to be trying to convince social conservatives like myself that he is honestly pro life when he does not even bother to issue a statement on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

So? if he rinos in the GOPe make a nice speech today against abortion, yet fully fund planned parenthood in last months budget, does that make them pro life?

And of course you have proof of Trump approves of sticking scissors in unborn babies skulls, right?

Post the quotes of him saying it or STFU.

Uh, huh, it makes a great campaign issue, but let me know when he actually accomplishes it.

Trump has no core conservative/pro-life beliefs.

He’ll tweet something canned if an advisor tells him his silence creates a negative impression.

As Kaisersrsic already posted to you. One of the most important things that our next president will do is pick several new Supreme Court Justices. I trust Cruz to pick good prolife Justices whereas I don’t think abortion will even be on Trumps radar when he picks Justices.

I am certainly skeptical

I don't blame you for that at all. All we can go on is Trump claiming to have changed his views.

Issuing a symbolic statement on the anniversary is something a politician would do. Much like the worthless proclamations made in Congress. Cruz could have a staffer just cut and paste a statement to appease his base. But, that's just me being skeptical. Don't take those as fighting words. Not trying to be confrontational.

the silence from trump is deafening. He can get up early and launch tweet attacks on Cruz but is silent on the anniversary of legal mass murder

What the next president will do is appoint Supreme Court justices.

Indeed he will, and maybe he'll appoint some Sandra Day O'Connor like Reagan did.

Your argument about who gets to be POTUS is a mixed bag at best, too many variables.

Did you see the list I posted earlier of things that Cruz already has done to fight for life. Cruz is a genuine pro life champion and no one in the prolife movement doubts that.

>>>GFY n00b, you don’t get to come on here and define who is a “true conservative” is

The question is, do you care?

Shove your pompous post up your ass.<<<

Wow it’s like DU here. Stay classy.

You can support whomever you want. But I thought FR was a conservative website. Trump may say many things Conservatives like, but he isn’t conservative the way I thought most of FR would have wanted prior to this campaign.

I think the country is in a spiral down when folks on a site like this embrace a guy who is suspect in many ways on being conservative. Cruz, Rubio and Rand Paul are all more conservative than Trump. Only one of them has significant support on this site. And Cruz appears to be less popular than Trump based on the comments I read.

Trump imho is similar to Obama. Hope and Change vs. Make America Great Again. You are voting for a slogan. You are voting for a man who sticks it to the guys you hate. And I think you are voting for a guy who will use excessive executive power to ramrod his agenda through. As opposed to being more interested in reducing the size of govt.

And screw the unborn right? You want jobs! Yeah that will make America great again /sarcasm off.

Along with the second Amendment

Don”t think for a moment that if another liberal gets placed on the USSC we won’t lose our individual right To keep and bear arms. Last vote on issue was 5 to 4.

Trump thinks his Sister is a great judge. Read dome if her erittings/rulings. We are in deep scat if that is the judgement he’d use to appoint one.

This argument has been going on for decades. Guess what unless the Supreme Court decides to change their ruling on roe v wade nothing changes. Trump does not have the power to change it or gay marriage. What did GW Bush do about it? What did 41 do about it?
