Trump: Ted Cruz is a nasty guy and I might sue over his eligibility

The day before last week's debate, Trump told us it was Democrats we needed to worry about when it came to Cruz's eligibility. Why, he had only raised the issue because he feared that his good friend Ted would have a cloud over him as nominee if he didn't seek a declaratory judgment about his "natural-born" status. That's just the kind of thoughtful pal he is. Three days later, after the punch-up at the debate, a New York Times reporter asked him whether he might sue Cruz himself. Response: "I'll think about it. It's not something that I would want to do. It's certainly something I would have standing to do." Twenty-four hours later, after Cruz spent a day on the trail in South Carolina savaging Trump as a fake conservative, Trump had moved a bit further. Here'd what he told Stephanopoulos yesterday on "This Week":

Stephanopoulos told Trump that some legal scholars have suggested Trump himself would have standing to sue Cruz.

"Oh, that's an interesting case. Wow, that sounds like a very good case. I'd do the public a big favor," Trump responded, but he would not say whether he'd actually file such a suit. "It's a good idea - maybe I'll talk to them about it. I'd like to talk to Ted about it, see how he'd feel about it. 'Cause you know, when I file suits, I file real suits."

The open borders globalists like Trump, Rubio, Huckster, and Sweatervest are ganging up to take out the real conservatives.

People have forgotten (and it wasn't that long ago) why it is that I sounded a warning bell to Trump on that. It wasn't the fact that he had gone after Cruz. It was the way he did it. I'm not gonna sit here and tell people not to go after people. That's crazy. But the way Trump went after Cruz, it was very, very dangerous, because he was using left-wing, liberal language. He was going after Cruz the way a liberal Democrat would. I was saying, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! You don't want to do it that way." Rush Limbaugh

So ... Donald ... why are you doing this, using left-wing, liberal, dangerous language ... again?!

"Because now he is doing a little bit better. No, I didn't care if he -- no, it is true," Trump said. "He never had a chance. Now he is doing better."

My thoughts exactly. Why doesn’t he just go ahead and do it and quit talking. Oops, he is going to let that disbarred lawyer in Houston use his money for the suit. Fine by me, let’s just go ahead and get it over with.

And I suppose donnie will talk about how the courts don’t know what they are talking about if they declare Cruz eligible? Wow, maybe he could be a constitutional lawyer in his spare time.

I understand the angst about Trump/Cruz supporters “tearing each other apart”, but I have to admit...some of the memes and pictures posted (and some of the snark, too) has been absolutely hilarious...there are many frustrated comedians on this site :)

That being said, we must not self destruct either...I guess it’s about finding the balance, eh? (Canadian reference :) )

Are you kidding me? Trump was about the only one who ever got in his face about it. Then he produced the latest fake BC and the issue died for good.

Leo Donofrio. I think he is based out of Philadephia. Trump can give him a ring.

Trump increasingly remi Ds me of J R Ewing. Zero principles, only a desire to win at all costs.

But everybody loved JR as the villian.

Maybe Ted Cruz = Cliff Barnes = Loser, outwitted by JR at every turn

Trump had qualms about Obama, he offered to pay $6 million dollars to Obama’s favorite charity if he would produce his real birth certificate and academic records. Cruz’ eligibility needs to be settled NOW! We run the risk of Jeb being the nominee when he sues both Cruz and Rubio in front of a friendly judge and gets a substantial proportion of their delegates 6-8 months from now, or if Jeb should decide not too, then Hillary does. Love Ted Cruz all you will, but there is a big big problem here. Be grateful that Mr. Trump wants to solve this now. As a matter of fact, I suspect that if Senator Cruz does win the nomination, and Hillary takes this to court (she is not going to let this happen to her again, Hillary is the first “birther” you know) YOU are going to be furious with Mr. Trump that he did not go after Senator Cruz on this issue and get it resolved!

The reason Trump isn’t going to file is because he has, at this point, consulted his legal counsel who have, in turn, consulted the constitutional attorneys they would most likely use to bring suit and have been told: Sorry, Donald. You will lose.

If he files and loses, the most likely scenario, Cruz gets unlimited publicity and Trump looks like the idiot that he is to the whole world.

He will never file. He runs his mouth a lot. That’s about it.

That Cruz is a nasty guy, which is why I financially support great men like Harry Reid. I sent money to that classy broad Hillary, too.
