The whole thing is bizarre, and apparently the FReepers on this thread have read more than one article and have conflicting info.

I have a family member who is a cop. She was a paramedic, and then she said that she had decided she wanted to stop things before they happened rather than clean up afterwards.

It’s God’s call to people like that. Are there bad cops? Sure, just as there are bad priests and bad teachers and many other people who have betrayed their vocations. But the call is there.

4:25 am is sure mighty early or late to be up studying, and why did he need a bat to study his engineering? It seems that some things have been left out of this article.

Here's what's left out of the article:

1. Nothing good or decent happens on the street or where ever this "kid" was, at 4:25am.

2. NIU (Northern Illinois University) let's damn' near anyone in. They recruit right out of the West and South sides of Chicago for the "urban" students so that NIU gets all kinds of Federal Funds.

3. NIU has its own race issues on campus. Has for more than a few years now.

4. The neighborhood in Chicago this kid and woman were shot by the po po in are known hot-spots.

5. Neighborhood is drug infested.

I can keep going, but I'm sure this is going to just fuel the daily protests in Sh*tcago and disrupt everything in the loop once I go back to work on Jan 5th.

At this point, all I can do is pray for a real bitter cold-snap to keep the po po protesters indoors, off the streets, so I can get back and forth to work in peace.

There have been many stories lately about parents calling 911 for help with a mentally ill family member. They think the police will restrain the mentally ill family member, but instead the police kill the person.

In this case, the woman living downstairs opened the door for police and was shot dead, too. What possible justification could there be for that?

“In this case, the woman living downstairs opened the door for police and was shot dead, too. What possible justification could there be for that?”

Didn’t see that in the article.

Saw she was called and warned to not let the nut-burger in as he was whacked out.

“Facts” provided by the BLM-wannabe’s are hardly facts to me.

To me I think it entirely plausible that the woman came outside—or was already outside—when the police arrived and intervened in the middle of a tense life-threatening situation. We see this all the time, BLM’s jumping in and attacking the police in the middle of mayhem. IMHO.

And then there’s Beyonce and Oprah, etc.

Some of these composers of unusual names might, before going into labor, see a Mayflower moving van pass by the hospital window.

Eventually we’ll see a Mayflower Jones involved in a story we’re reading about some crime committed.

Other articles quote the woman's daughter as saying the woman opened the door for the police.

This article says: The father said he called Jones, who lived a floor below, and warned her that his son was a "little irate" and not to open the door unless police arrived. He said Jones told him she saw his son outside with a baseball bat. When police arrived, Antonio LeGrier said he heard Jones yell, "Whoa, Whoa Whoa!" He said he heard gunshots as he made his way down from the second floor and then saw his son and Jones lying in the foyer.

If the above is true, it sounds as if, when the police arrived, the woman opened the door and attempted to calm the situation. The police do say she was shot accidentally.

Maybe we'll find out more, but right now, this 19yo sounds like the real deal: He really did graduate high school with honors. His parents say he was medicated for mental illness.

This story fits right in with other stories of families who called police to help them with mentally ill family members. The lesson here is never to do that these days. The police will kill your family member.

Like I said, I never believe the BLM crowd when it comes to police. What are they going to say about their precious wannabe-rapper, turning his life around, going to college, being a father to his seven kids via seven women, etc. . .and some sainted neighbor?

Reminds me of s situation I observed in court:

BLM family member: ‘The video say he done it, but if he said he didn’t do it, he didn’t do it.’

I never believe a word from the BLM crowd.

Why not wait for the forensics to come back? The woman downstairs my have been hit by a bullet not fired from the cop’s gun, or a list of other possibilities. Why do some want to paint this as the cop intentionally shot the woman downstairs?

“Why do some want to paint this as the cop intentionally shot the woman downstairs?”

Cop-hatred runs deep in the soul of quite a few FReepers.

Some even recommend never, never calling the police under any circumstances, even if you see a horrible crime in progress.

If you disagree with them you are a ‘bootlicker.’

I’m just accepting the police’s word... They’re saying the woman was shot accidentally.

But I agree that more on the story could be revealed later.

At this point, this story doesn’t sound like a racial issue (although it will be presented that way in the media). Instead, it’s one of those stories that we hear so much about these days - families calling 911 because a mentally ill family member is having an episode. The families are thinking the police will subdue their relatives and bring them to the hospital. But, very often, those calls just don’t end well.
