Quintonio Legrier, a 19-year-old college student, was pronounced dead at a hospital at 4:51 a.m. and Bettie Jones, a 55-year-old mother of five who was Legrier's neighbor, died at a different hospital at 5:14 a.m. Both were black, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Legrier's mother, Janet Cooksey, told the Chicago Tribune that her son was studying engineering at Northern Illinois University. She said he graduated from Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy in Chicago and "was going somewhere."
"We're thinking the police are going to service us, take him to the hospital. They took his life," she said.
She said her son "didn't have a gun. He had a bat."

Lord knows, an aluminum or wood bat can’t possibly used to kill anyone.
I lol’d at that too. His mom just confirmed that the DA will not press charges. The victims mom would be called as a defense witness to quote her statement in this article.

This article is pretty light on details. I guess “cops shoot sorta unarmed black guy” is all you need to know.
What did Bettie do to get shot? I’d sure hate to think it was an accident, an errant shot that just killed her, and that police won’t face any charges when that happens (like everyone else does).

The moral here seems to be that evil cops search out Black college students who are just minding their business and shoot them.
Her son is acting crazy-dangerous around 3:00 a.m. Christmas night, and she thinks the police are a free taxi? These people live in an alternate universe.

It seems that the kid was attacking somebody with a bat and the police shot him. The woman who was killed may have been a bystander or a family member of the person he was attacking.
Nothing happy at all, and I hate it when people make ugly jokes about things like this. And having known cops who’ve had to shot the mentally ill or psychotropically disturbed - not to mention having known what happens to them in the press and the courts afterwards - I’d say this is a seriously unhappy event.
Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy is a public school with a fancy name, or a “magnet school” as they say, on Chicago’s South Side.

The article doesn’t say except that she opened the door and then was shot. The article is all’s out the yute. It’ seems middle aged women black Iives do not matter.
I’m guessing her killing was an accident.
