I don’t think I’d go that far. I’d just consider it money I sequestered and escrowed somewhere eventually to be pissed away on default. You have to be willing to lose all that from the gitgo and you HAVE to have the money to start with.
If the kid does pay it back, then it’s gravy.
Plumbers and electricians are working non-stop and making VERY good money at it.
I think most of us understand why a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies is nearly worthless. But what is technology management?
“Tim graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies. He’s especially interested in a Hollywood career,....”
I am especially interested in winning the super lotto, but I won’t plunk down $200,000 to win it.
My brother-in-law retired as a plumber - a millionaire.
He said to be a plumber you have to learn two things:
1) Sh!t flows downhill, and
2) Don’t bite your fingernails.
“Tim graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies”
Oh look! I officially don’t care about your plight!
Have fun working as a Wal-mart greeter while your son writes for a low-level blog.
It sounded really impressive when they told their friends and acquaintances.
This post. And post 22 are lol threadwinners!
“Internet video of lecture classes. Cut costs by 80%. Fire all the liberals ruining our kidsâ minds.”
What you said.
Great idea. Yes everybody wants their dream job in a chosen career field, but if it doesn’t happen, you still have to pay those loans. In which case, its a sign of maturity and responsibility to take a job to pay your bills, not let your parents take it on. Geez. Some of these kids need to grow up and be responsible; that’s part of what is going on here.
” Tim graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies.”
What a complete waste of money on a useless degree.
It’s like paying $100k for a used Yugo.
Doesn’t student debt show up on a credit report. Companies do use credit reports to evaluate potential employees, could be they are losing out on jobs to graduates who were more responsible in financing their education.
Stupid choice of major there Tim. This kids poor decision on what to study just put his parents in a de facto Debtors' Prison for the rest of their lives. Their other son, Sean, lives at home and is pursuing a second degree. He has about $60,000 in student debt from earning a bachelor's degree in technology management from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.
Sorry to say this but never heard of that school. A degree from there is not worth the paper it was printed on. If that is the only type of school he could of gotten into he would of been better off going to community college then attempting to transfer to the state university.
These kids poor decisions put his parents in a de facto Debtors' Prison for the rest of their lives. The parents were stupid for co-signing the loans for a worthless degrees.
$190k for that? Moron. Where did he think he was going to make the kind of money required to pay off a loan of that size with that degree? A properly educated HS grad (of my generation) could walk into most journalism jobs and do them competently.
A moron raised by morons. They thought he could pay those loans with that degree? If they think they are responsible for his debts, I can imagine the crap liberal upbringing they provided as parents.
If we get another Dem, or a RINO in 2016, then you and I are going to pay their little snowflake's loans off.
Kids (and Parents) are about worthless these days.
From the day my kids were born they had 529’s started. I worked 40 hour weeks and paid off my tuition & fees on my own graduating with ZERO debt.
If I wanted to be a movie star, I’m not sure I’d start with a journalism degree from Rutgers (It isn’t a top 10 program even if you want to be a journalist, and for acting, a drama degree might be more useful). For that kind of money, he could have gotten a drama degree from USC.
Our grandson was attending community college. ..and we were funding (grandparents )...until he failed our requirements that he provide us his grades. He really didn’t have a goal...so now he’s working construction making $15/hr...much better learning opportunities IMHO
Yes, the parents appear to be a “bright” as their son. Too bad.
