When it comes to mobile shopping on Thanksgiving, e-commerce sites probably saw nearly 80 percent of purchases come from iOS devices, according to a report from online retail analytics company Custora. Nevertheless, there was an uptick in e-commerce purchases coming from Android mobile devices this year.

Online Black Friday sales revenue rose 16.1 percent from the same day last year, according to Custora. The number of orders rose 15.6 percent and the average order value grew 0.5 percent. "Retailers did a good job growing the top line without being overly promotional compared to last year," the company notes.

Smartphones and tablets accounted for 36.1 percent of e-commerce orders on Black Friday, up from 30.3 percent on Black Friday last year.

Apple's iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) accounted for 77.6 percent of all mobile orders and 22.1 percent happened on Android devices. While trailing iOS devices by a healthy margin, Android mobile orders are up from 19.5 percent last year.

When talking dollars, Adobe reports that $639 million in Thanksgiving sales came from mobile devices. On Black Friday, $905 million in sales came from mobile devices, and of that amount, $368 million came from iPhones, $180 million came from Android smartphones, $302 million came from iPads, and $50 million came from Android tablets.

The top-selling electronic products on Black Friday were Samsung 4K TVs, the iPad Air 2, the Xbox One, the iPad Mini, and the PlayStation 4, according to Adobe.

It seems that the stats don’t reflect laptop purchases. It wasn’t too long ago that laptops were considered mobile platforms. How quickly things become so yesterday and forgotten. Everywhere I look people have their face buried in concentration on smartphone or tablet screens.

I am using Amazon and Costco for 90% of my shopping.

Rarely do I stop and shop anywhere else

My shopping is relatively easy in that it is primarily cash for everyone. Grandsons will use theirs to pay for their books next semester. My son and dil are using theirs to pay for new windows in their living room. Gift cards from Cabelas for more ammo and a new tent in their stockings with some small funny inexpensive gifts made shopping this Christmas a breeze. None of them have a smartphone or tablet and don’t seem to care for anything electronic beyond their laptops and old style cell phone. Works fine for me.

Mine was easier, we have 7 grands, 5 great grands. Kroger’s puts gift cards, straight denominations only, at 4 times the gas points. I walk in grab 12 $25 cards, and 3 $100 cards, they do their own shopping, I shop for hubby, and I get 1% back on my Discover to boot, and $3.00 over the next 2 months off on up to 35 gals of gas at a fill up.

Step daughter used her’s to buy a ECHO for her IT Business, as we combine her BD and Christmas in one as they are so close to each other.

Good for you. I love Kroger’s and use a LOT of their brand stuff so I get my “senior” discount as well as buy all my gas there. My dil got really involved in the organic only and no gluten mania so she prefers to shop elsewhere. Me and my money only go to Kroger.

Merry and Blessed Christmas to you.

I bounce between the Commissary for meats the are better than Kroger’s and cheaper, and the few items that are cheaper and Kroger’s. I use coupons to cut the bill as much as I can. I’ve lived poor to long not to be careful what and when I buy. I’d grow more if my health would allow it. Moles destroyed my strawberry bed this year lost 300 plants. Unless they have an electric cart I’m limited to just bread and milk from the front of the store. I can’t walk it, between a bad back and heart trouble it is not worth the risk. I keep a stock of food for 2 months. Especially when they put it on sale and I have coupons. Fill out the survey’s for the extra 50 pts too. Share the gas pts with my boys when there are any left over.

Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours Grams.
