I agree with everything you said, but could you at least run a spoiler alert on such posts?

A Star Fleet observer and cultural expert encountered a fractious society and introduced Nazism as a means of uniting the planet...which included painting the Zayon neighbors( played by Jewish actors in that episode as I’ve heard)from one world over as a hideous threat to be disposed of! Thus was the Prime Directive violated and Kirk had to come in and change the balance of power and somehow re-right the wrongs done! Chalk the captain up for another medal!

Sounds like what happened when Obama and Hillary tried to interfere with a revolt in Syria, trusted the wrong people, and the monstrosity they created grew out of their control and turned into the ISIS Caliphate movement.

Not a bad analogy. Of course, John Gill began his mission and made the choices that he did with a benign or benevolent intent. I don’t think the same could be said of Barack ‘n Hillary’s Syrian adventure.

Spock has a button undone.
(guess I took my time in the Army too serious)

A book written by a Frenchman (Alsace-Lorraine) who fought with the Germans on the Russian front had some pretty horrific tales of combat.

Once, after surviving the Russian tanks crushing guys on the river bank, he makes it to the German side. He watches as some rear echelon SOB:
berates one soldier for retreating when he still had three rounds left
another for having a Russian rifle (he broke his killing the rifles owner)
sends a Lt. to a labor battalion because he lost his binoculars
send a private to follow that Lt. because he kept his jacket together with a piece of wire in lieu of a button.

We had a bit of that in Vietnam. They sent an Inspector General’s team to do a formal inspection of our unit. Totally unheard of a completely laughable thing to do in a war zone.

The typical reaction in the units I knew was, "What are they gonna do? Send me to Vietnam?"

I remember that saying very well.

I also recall some of the results of the IG inspection. Our motor pool had all the right vehicles, but the registration numbers did not match what the records said they should be on about half of them. To this day I think of it as humorous.
