My son watched some “potential” gun owners looking at guns this weekend...inspecting them by picking the up with a thumb and forefinger. I’m 100% 2nd amendment...but I still think there should be a little training...not to buy, but to cc. There are a hell of a lot of folks buying guns today that I’d consider “doubtful” on the street in a combat sutuation? I carry every day, I encourage my friends to get locked and loaded and get their permit. I take new people to the range,(and always start with safety). But turning some of these people lose with a loaded gun and NO SAFETY TRAINING is just plain frightening.
I have similar feelings about motorcycles, having seen riders on the streets who are a danger to themselves and others. One would hope that people would be responsible enough to get training on the things, in order to help them survive. But then owning a bike isn't a right, protected by a constitutional amendment.
FWIW, I used to shoot regularly, in high school, joining JROTC and shooting on the school rifle team, then later, as an adult, competing in bowling pin and USPSA shooting, so I had lots of training. On bikes, I've been through Reg Pridmore's CLASS, Jason Pridmore's STAR, and Keith Code's CSS (2x) riding courses, and once held a WERA amateur racing license. It's safe to say I believe in training, when it comes to activities that can cause death & mayhem. But I don't know if I approve of government manted training, when the private sector can do such a good job of it (NRA & MSF.)

LOL! Yup. I’ve seen ‘them’ at the range and at gun shows and it kinda give you the shivers. Train, train, train.
You got that right. It is amazing how many untrained jerks point guns at others that they don’t intend on shooting. Everyone who owns a firearm should take a one day class by a professional firearms instructor, if for no other reason: “Every bullet has a lawyer behind it.”
