This State Just Signed Landmark Gun Legislation (Kansas)

There is SOME good news for gun owners. Conservative Kansas Governor Sam Brownback just signed new legislation bolstering the right to bear arms. When asked why he passed such a broad bill, Brownback offered great rationale:

"Kansans soon can carry concealed weapons without permits or training under a bill signed by Gov. Sam Brownback on Thursday.

The new law, which kicks in July 1, makes Kansas the sixth state to allow “constitutional carry.” It will allow Kansans 21 and older to carry concealed firearms regardless of whether they have obtained a permit.

Training still will be required for anyone who wants to carry a concealed gun in the 36 states that accept Kansas permits.

This is as it should be. Nice going Kansas. If only we could get the NV legislature to follow this example. Sadly, things may be getting stickier with interplanetary background checks in the '16 (s)elections here.

IIRC, after the Revolutionary war, soldiers were allowed BY WASHINGTON to keep their weapons.

Not only did they keep their weapons, but those guns were the ASSAULT WEAPON of their time. How could the “father of our country” have possibly allowed those combat veterans to go back to civilian life fully armed? (just kidding)
Today, the gun may be even more important. A reading or listening of the “media”, tells the sensible that the old Boy Scout motto, “Be Prepared” is still, in these times, valid.

I slept in the big bed at my grandfathers farmhouse circa 1956. There was as a shotgun under the bed. He alsways slept on a cot in the kitchen where the stove was. That was life on a farm after the kids grew up.

And that is what we call...the militia....ordinary citizens....with a God given right to defend themselves and a government who can’t take their guns away.

I wish Texas would pass the law. And those who have convictions of violent criminal acts should not be allowed to carry.

Hmmm. I believe in most places convicted felons aren’t “allowed” to have firearms but it sure doesn’t keep them from having them. Of course, unless they see a sign and immediately get rid of the firearm. We know how effective signs are.

"IIRC, after the Revolutionary war, soldiers were allowed BY WASHINGTON to keep their weapons."

At the end of our Civil War Grant and Sherman allowed surrendered Confederate officers to keep their side arms and horses.

We’ve got a true leader in Governor Brownback. He’s a man of conviction. God Bless him!

I work in Kansas, and live just 30 miles north in Nebraska. I really just need to move. Nebraska is run by nanny statists.

Don’t Mess with Kansas.

My husband had a permit to carry, here in California. He said that when one carries a gun one has a different view of people, things, life, etc.

This guy had a vicious, nasty pitt bull and tried to attack at will. My hubby said that if he didn't control his dog better he would SHOOT it.
People ALWAYS knew when my hubby meant business. He got a certain look in his eye. Of course, he was born and brought up in Oakland and that look in his eye made even a nasty pack of young black men back off when he honked at them for lollygagging in our way (in our car).
They approached our car, screaming epithets at him but at about 30 feet they ALL stopped cold and started backing up, still screaming epithets.

Another time we were driving in a crowded area and a black guy in back of us kept honking to move forward...when there was NO place to move. The guy SWOOPED in front of me and when he looked in the rear view mirror, as I knew he would, I applauded.
He jammed on his brakes, got out of the car...BIG guy and started marching for me.
Lol. My husband merely opened the passenger door and stepped out and looked at him. The guy stopped dead in his tracks, did a 180 and marched back to his car.

My husband said that bullies like those had to be shown that he was NOT afraid of them. It ALWAYS worked with bullies. Cowards all of them.

I stil miss my dear hubby.

It is? That's a shame. I guess the east and west coast rents and home prices got too high for them.

The libs and their media ended concealed carry permits when they started getting corrupt bureaucrats to turn over the names etc. Then published maps of these. They can whine all they want, but it was their doing.

My son watched some “potential” gun owners looking at guns this weekend...inspecting them by picking the up with a thumb and forefinger. I’m 100% 2nd amendment...but I still think there should be a little training...not to buy, but to cc. There are a hell of a lot of folks buying guns today that I’d consider “doubtful” on the street in a combat sutuation? I carry every day, I encourage my friends to get locked and loaded and get their permit. I take new people to the range,(and always start with safety). But turning some of these people lose with a loaded gun and NO SAFETY TRAINING is just plain frightening.

I spent most of my life in MO, and while most of the state votes on the conservative side, the major population centers in the state are pretty hard-code leftists. KC, StL, and Columbia (home of the Missouri Yellow Bellied Pussy-cats) are all hard-core left. Of course, they both have rather high crime rates, as cities run by leftists always have.

I've since moved across the state line into Kansas, but will probably wind up getting a CCW permit, in order to legally carry in MO, which is only 3 miles away. Though I find I rarely cross over into MO these days. I prefer not to support Kansas City, MO with any of my money from sales taxes.
