Fox News Sunday tried to ask Ben Carson some policy questions about the terrorist attack in Paris, and the result was a dose of insanity that include a lectured on brain sizes, and Carson's support for a shooting war with Russia.
Carson was asked four times by host Chris Wallace what his response to the Paris attacks would be if he were president, and he couldn't answer, but the real crazy was yet to come.
In response to the question about whether the US should accept refugees from Syria, Carson went on a rant about the human brain:
WALLACE: The Obama administration has said before that it would accept up to 10,000 Syrian refugees as part of the humanitarian crisis. We now learn that one of these attackers had a Syrian passport that indicated he had been part of the refugee flood into Europe in October. Would you continue that policy?
CARSON: Well, you know, as I've said all along, you know, bringing people into this country from that area of the world I think is a huge mistake. Because why wouldn't they infiltrate them with people who are ideologically opposed to us? It would be foolish for them not to do that. So, we need to be very compassionate to understand that these people have been displaced and we should use our expertise and resources to help get them resettle over there, and to support them over there, but to bring them here under these circumstances is a suspension of intellect.
You know, the reason that the human brain has these big frontal lobes as opposed to other animals, because we can engage in rational thought processing, we can, you know, extract information from the past, the present, process it and project it into a plan. Animals, on the other hand, have big brain stems and rudimentary things, because they react. We don't have to just react, we can think.
Carson took crazy to another level when he suggested getting into a shooting war with Russia in Syria:
WALLACE: Dr. Carson what happens if the Russians respond to that by shooting down one of our planes?
CARSON: I would do that in conjunction with the Turkish forces along the Syrian/Turkish border where a huge number of those refugees located. It's a humanitarian thing to try to provide them a safe haven for now.
WALLACE: But sir, if I may press my-
CARSON: And I would make sure that the Russians understood that we are going to do that.
WALLACE: If I may press my point, what do you do if â after we shoot down a Russian plane, they shoot down one of ours?
CARSON: If they violate it, we will, in fact, enforce it. And, you know, we'll see what happened. You know, too, for us to always be backing down because we are afraid of a conflict, that's not how we became a great nation, Chris.
WALLACE: But you're talking about getting potentially into a shooting war with Russia over Syria?
CARSON: Well, if we established a no fly zone and we make clear the rules, if they violate it, that's why you have a no-fly zone. That's the very definition of a no fly zone. You can't fly there.
Ben Carson was asked policy question about the kind of unexpected crisis that all presidents must deal with, and he showed that he is completely unfit for office.
Rambling about the size of the human brain is not answer to a question about continuing the policy of accepting Syrian refugees. The idea that the United States could get into a shooting war with Russia to protect a no fly zone in Syria was flat out insane.
Over the weekend, top Republicans privately admitted that they viewed both Carson and Trump as unfit to be Commander In Chief. Republicans are terrified that Trump or Carson will win their party's nomination and lead the party to a crushing defeat. After Carson's appearance on Fox News, he appears to be even less sane than Trump.
Ben Carson's success as a presidential candidate demonstrates just how crazy Republican voters have become.
It is very worrying. The newer signups are without judgement and self-control.
There was nothing crazy about his answers.
Carson supports amnesty, gun control and TPP. Carson’s positions prove he is not Conservative and not POTUS material.
Carson also supports amnesty, gun control and TPP. Not position I could ever support.
Yes and I don't. SO, why post an article that's flame bait when there are issues that are much more substantial?
I thought the same thing ...whats wrong with reminding people that they have a brain and they should use it ?
I could make sense out of what was said
If you check my posting history you will find plenty of article that point out just that. Pardon the heck out of me if I thought Carson’s own words in an interview on foreign policy might shed some light on his unpreparedness to lead.
Amen, I’m with you brother.
I’ll say that Carson is an idiot.
A gifted idiot? Sure. There are savants in the world.
I thought his rambling answer when it got down to shooting down Russian planes was irresponsible.
I don’t follow Carson, so I’m not expert on all his positions, but I did hear what he said about the trade bill.
He said he was not fully briefed on the details, but that in general trade was a good thing and he supported it “Conditionally”.
That’s what he said...
He’s not a lib....He’s a social conservative in the same category as Huckabee. You will find Huckabee to be weak in some areas as well. His past governance will show that.
But the last thing I would do to either of them is to compare them to Hillary who is a total fraud.
I think maybe it would improve discourse if you would moderate your attack dog a little...It’s a primary and it’s competitive. But we don’t need to jump into the Dem sewer to find dirt.
You apparently found some in that headline.
Actually Carson sounds very smart in this interview.
The source you used was the problem and you knew it would be.
He and Hillary have the same position on no fly zones in Syria. He didn’t say what the conditions were on TPP. That is just CYA talk.
His positions on gun control and amnesty, as well as his cozy relationship to Sharpton and Farrakhan, show he is not a true Conservative.
No. I am saying that the decision to edit responses should be consistent. I don't think that is the case here, as this is an example of purposefully choosing to not edit.
As you should know and apparently don’t, the interviewer is a lib. Wallace does this crap all the time, and Carson would have none of it.
That’s what you saw. He was not rambling, he was pissed at the questions. Obviously they, as they always do, run through what the topics will be ahead of the interview. Then they change it up, ask a bunch of crap not expected, and try to trip up the candidate.
They are doing it not because of Carson, they are doing it to make news while they try to make a republican appear irritated or angered, or off his/her game.
I’ve seen it already with other candidates who fight back. Including Trump. I expect to see plenty more of it.....
Fox does it just as well as MSNBC...
Carson will get more people killed than he’s ever *operated on* if he’s elected POTUS.
And anyone who votes for this idiot will be just as convicted.
Unless we're willing to put boots on the ground (which I think is still a bad idea right now) then we should not deny ourselves air superiority.
We should encourage all nations of the world to treat ISIS territory as a bombing range.
I don’t think a person’s responses should be edited. That leads to “out of context” issues.
His answer on a shooting war with Russia shows he knows nothing of the cost of war. That's more important.
“Republicans are terrified that Trump or Carson will win their party’s nomination and lead the party to a crushing defeat.”
I would agree wit that regarding Carson. For Trump THEY FEAR THE EXACT OPPOSITE, which is that Trump would win, and throw them out of work - finally.
