Would like to hear what fellow FR gamers think of the new Fallout 4 game.
I tried Fallout 3 but didn't care for it. I'm not a fan of open worlds or RPG's. I prefer linear games, like BioShock, Uncharted, Dead Space, etc. Is Fallout 4 living up to the hype? Is it open world like Fallout 3?
It’s extremely open world. It has a ton of content.
What is this Fallout game. An on-line game?
*plugs ears*
La la la la
*closes eyes*
I’m not listening!
*runs into wall*
Fallout 1 and 2, especially the soundtrack ;) F3 didn’t do it for me and it was just a copycat for even Final fantasy and Elder scrolls. OK, time to go now before i finally admit I;m an otaku..
It’ll rot your brain then you’ll vote for Trump!
;^)
My son wants it for XBox One. Just got him COD Black Ops III which he has been playing a lot.
I will kill the bear with my bare hands.
Do you really wish to kill the bear with your bare hands?
Yes.
You have killed the bear. You will find a large pot of gold behind the dead carcass of the bear. Put it in your bag of holding and continue your Adventure.
There should be some youtube videos of the game you can watch and get a feel for it-
I already live in near that Dystopian, lib infested world called the city of Boston MA.
Don’t need to spend 60 buck when all i need to do is drive 10 miles....
i’ll wait till the price comes down.
By the way I still have Fallout: New Vegas to play, I finally bought a new video card that can handle it, game has been sitting unplayed on my desk since it came out.
Sounds like an Infocom game. :)
I miss those days
I know you said you don’t like open world games, but have you tried Stalker? It’s not as eye candy rich as some games, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun- it is linear in a sense that you have several options you can choose from to advance the storyline- and you need to complete tasks to advance- but it’s open world inthat you don’t need to complete the tasks in any given order, and can go and explore the countryside as you see fit- just watch our for the pseudo dogs and snorks- and blood suckers- creatures that came about as a result of radiation poisoning from Chernobyl meltdown
The game is quite eerie with it’s great music and sound effects too- and you’ll find yourself jumping from fright a lot
Give it a look at youtube- it’s loads of fun
But do I smell a grue?
[[You round a turn in the cave and come face to face with a huge grizzly bear. What do you wish to do?]]
Sounds like a menu based game?
In stalker, you round a hill and come face to face with mutated dogs looking to rip you to pieces, you simply run and try to figure out how to get to a high spot where they can’t reach you, and you either wait for them to tire out and give up, or you kill them- there’s no menu asking what you wish to do
The only menus you encounter are when you run into other stalkers In the field and want to ask them questions, or have them escort you to some place clear across the map (which is huge- being escorted gets you there much quicker)
Stalkwer is basically a run and gun game as well as a thinking game (You pause before taking on a group of enemies- look around and try to figure out how to use the terrain to your advantage for duck and shoot process- etc- then proceed- )
It’s not really menu based at all- menus to me just seem to really break the flow of the action too much-
Between Imgur and coworkers, I know all I need to know.
The one notable part missing is that I’ve not heard a lot of accolades for graphics. Apparently Dogmeat looks awesome, but I’m not seeing too much in the way of advancement for graphics. Bethesda always does well there, though.
I’ve not played through FO3, let alone New Vegas. I bought NV on a Steam sale last year and never installed it. Que sera sera.
“I already live in near that Dystopian, lib infested world called the city of Boston MA.

hilarious
Looks like it’s mostly desert. I’d like a wider variety of locations. Extraordinary things happening in ordinary locations is really fun. Watch_Dogs, Deus Ex and the later Half-Life versions did it well.
I have to give FO4 a little more time as I only have about 2 hours of game time with it. At this point I’m not too impressed. The game is clearly ported from it’s console design. In part, the graphics show this.
As has been noted previously, I get about 4 optional responses that all lead to the identical game result. What’s the purpose of that other than to slow down game play.
I’ve played Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas and FO4 seems different so far, not as much fun as I remember, but as I said, I only have about 2 hours into it, so I need to give it more time. It just doesn’t quite feel immersive yet.
