What song do you sing to yourself?

So I'm walking around the house singing The Animals, "House Of The Rising Sun" to myself. And I wondered what other FReepers sing to themselves...

Anything from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and EVITA.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY by QUEEN. Yes, I know they were queer as a mormon three dollar bill but they could still sing!

I’M FEELIN BAD by BOB WILLS and the Texas Playboys.
Too many other Bob Wills songs.

My wife used to sing and dance the Hokey Pokey for our kids (my daughter would giggle endlessly and demand endless encores). I still like it. You’re forgiven fof Little Bunny Foo-Foo.

Yesterday at work I was required to be up in a manlift to hook a crane to a piece of pipe, raise it a bit, and then unhook it after we were done.

While waiting for the guys on the ground to finish their task, I was sitting in the basket of the lift, checking out the scenery.

I noticed a barge making it’s way down the river and decided to go for Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Out loud.

By myself.

60 feet in the air.

Between the crane noise, the noise of the running manlift, and ambient jobsite noise, people couldn’t hear me, but I know I caught a few people looking at me strangely.

Compare it to the 70s! What a time, what a fabulous time for those of us who loved music to have lived through the 60s.

I’m now thinking of Eric Burdon and Dusty Springfield who so understood American soulfulness.

A lot of the Vanishing Point soundtrack from 1971 is a common one for me.

I like this corny 80s song for long distance driving.

“May God Bestow on Us His Grace,” to the tune of Der Lxvj. Deus Misereatur, Magdeburg, 1524.

This tune has been leaping to mind on many occasion over the past couple of years, along with the accompanying text . . . as much as I can remember. It is not unlikely one might hear me humming the same while shopping. The tune is by no means simple. Probably one of the more difficult hymns of the Church.

At the same time, on any given day, if a tune meets my ears there is a good chance it will stick for a little while. But the aforementioned hymn is recurring on a regular basis and trumps any tune I’ve ever heard repeated in my lifetime in terms of longevity and potency.

To: Artemis Webb; Jack Straw from Wichita
Seriously... after seeing the FReeper name "Jack Straw from Wichita" in another thread, I could not help but start singing, "We can share the women, we can share the wiiiiiiine."

Jack Straw is my second-most favorite Dead song, right behind Brokedown Palace... I think it's the harmony of both songs that I like so much.
