Sounds like insurance fraud: “Hey, one of those driverless cars, deep pocket insurance, I’m gonna cut in front and squat”

Reasons driverless cars will never be used in a large scale manner:

1. No amount of programming can account for every situation

2. All the sensors needed for this to work would get dirty on a daily basis for those of use living in flyover country, on dirt roads.

3. Cities and counties will not be able to make up for lost revenue from traffic citations.

I had a lady tailgate me this morning, she also was weaving back and forth. She finally went around me then tailgated the next car then switched lanes and did this to a bus! Then switched lanes then crossed over 3 in one move to the left lane and roared off. Pretty typical day I guess for her. The car she was in was for all intents was driverless!

It makes more sense to develop driverless trucks. They would have the same economies as trains.

Computers have two advantages over humans, they don't get impatient or angry.

The car will snap a picture of the jackass, who will be identified by facial recognition and issued a citation.

The car will snap a picture of the SPEEDBUMP, who will be identified by TREAD PATTERN and issued a BICYCLE; for who wants an old, used Citation?

Thanks for posting that... I thought about a Merc.. For those features... It would have to be flawless and amazing to pry that much money from me because it is the top end of my budget... Maybe even plus.

Such hatred... What, you couldn't get a VW diesel?

LOL! If I did have one, I would be delaying the "fix' for as long as possible to keep the performance up - despite the extra pollutants.

I hope that you stay the course with your PSAs. I believe them to be VERY effective. If folks give you any flack trebb, you know where to tell them to go! Great job!

I got the CLA250 (bottom end and only Front Wheel Drive they make. Started at $32K and I ended up paying $38K from a $41K sticker. Has the AMG sport package so it's really firm (even more so than most which are all firm for handling) and it sticks to the road like a cat on a curtain. Back seat isn't anything to brag about but I'm retired and will never have to worry about it. Fun to drive and a tad quicker than the Camry I traded in even though it has a 2 liter engine with 208 horsepower vs. the V-6 in the Camry that had 268 horsepower. Gets about 6-8 more MPG w/o giving up "oomph".

I love mine and can't wait for the next one when I decide to upgrade a tad.

Ooooo AMG... If I had car posters my love would be any AMG.. A 1970 Dodge Charger or challenger TA... And something fun like a VW Thing... I know, one of these things are not like the other.. I also admire the C3 corvette.. Will wait out this economy and get something fun..
I saw some immaculate AMGs go for peanuts on Mecum... The powerful AMGs too.. Maybe next year.

Nice to know that you like sportiness - I'm 63 and probably won't outgrow my enjoyment of more power than I need and better handling characteristics than I'll ever use.

Good luck on acquiring your next "road toy"...
