An investigation into USC Athletic Director Pat Haden found the Trojans top athletic figurehead collects roughly half a million dollars annually for his roles outside of the athletic department.
The monetary benefits also extend to his daughter, Natalie Haden OConnor, who is on the George Henry Mayr Foundation board with Haden.
IRS filings obtained by the Los Angeles Times found OConnor was paid roughly $68,000 last year, with the foundation reporting she worked an average of one hour a week.
Haden was also listed as working an average of one hour a week. He made $72,725 from the nonprofit last year.
The Mayr foundation chalked up the one hour a week to a mistake. From the LA Times:
The Mayr Foundation trust administrator said the report to the IRS that OConnor worked an average of one hour a week last year was a mistake and that the number was actually 15 hours a week.
The Times noted to the administrator that the foundation had reported the same average of a single hour per week for OConnor and Haden for several years. A spokesman for the administrator later said that those reports also were inaccurate, but that the correct figures were not immediately available.
When asked by the LA Times what kind of qualifications OConnor had for the board, a USC spokesman responded that Haden doesnt comment on other directors.
Since 2000, Haden received more than $1 million for his work on the Mayr Board, according to IRS records.

Chump change. Nothing compared to what Chelsea Clinton makes for doing nothing for the family “charity”.
They are paying for the ‘name’ on the board of directors. No different than a lot of boards.
That’s OK, then—working 15 whole hours per week definitely means she earned $68K.
In a sane and just world, Colleges would ONLY be about academics, not sports. College sports are just another vehicle for liberal social engineers, liberal corporations and crony money men.
That information is private.
Where/how/how much one makes is no one else’s business.
We need to run a non profit and make some incredible money.
Is this what must be called legal corruption? Maybe this is the new title for this kind of greed.
Authorities need only show that (n/p charities) filed materially misleading financial information but continued fundraising for "non-profit projects."
"The essence of what a charity does is take your money and show you how they spend it."
This crap goes on in all of these “charities.” If all the money wasn’t being sucked up in travel and salaries and perks, people in need may actually be able to be helped. This stuff is disgusting.
Nice work, if you can get it!
Nice Work If You Can Get It
By Fred Astaire
Holdin’ hands at midnight
Beneath a starry sky
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Strollin’ with the one girl
Sighin’ sigh after sigh
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Just imagine someone
Waiting at the cottage door
Where two hearts become one
Who could ask for anything more?
Loving one who loves you
And then takin’ that vow
Nice work if you can get it
And if you get it, won’t you tell me how?
Holdin’ hands at midnight
Beneath a starry sky
And strollin’ with the one girl
Sighing sigh after sigh
Just imagine someone
Waiting at the cottage door
Where two hearts become one
Who could ask for anything more?
Loving one who loves you
And then takin’ that vow
Nice work if you can get it
And if you get it, won’t you tell me how?

What a scam...
The Mayr Foundation has contributed more than $450,000 to undergraduate student scholarships since 1979. The foundation established an endowment fund in 1993 and currently contributes $20,000 annually to student scholarships.
Which is why I only give to individuals and not “charities”
The George H. Mayr Foundation has been providing scholarships for MSW students at the USC School of Social Work for nearly a quarter of a century.
The foundation began making gifts to the school in 1991, and has continued its commitment, giving each year. To date, $331,000 has been received from the foundation to support social work students with financial need.

This is why there are only a few charaties that I believe in and (willingly, my employer twists my arm) contribute to:
1. The Salvation Army. These people ALL work from the leaders on down, and pay their own way down to the uniforms and gas.
2. Certain animal welfare charities.
Many others are basically legal rackets.
IMHO, these are the non-proftis the IRS should go after. If you are paying your BOD's more than you are contributing you should not be a non-profit. It is just a money laundering set up for the rich and/or well connected.
Rhodes scholar
This is not a private business. The Foundation is a tax-exempt non-profit organization and its spending habits should be open to scrutiny.
