A dramatic motorcycle crash that left two injured was caught on video by another motorcyclists helmet camera.
Saturday afternoon, Eric Sanders and his friend were riding their motorcycles down a Granbury, Texas road when a car suddenly swerved and clipped his motorcycle, throwing Sanders and his girlfriend off the bike.
Ive got a gouge in my elbow that is bone-deep, Sanders told WFAA.
Video posted to Facebook shows Sanders friend confront the driver of the car.
What were you doing? You hit them, you can hear the friend say.
I dont care, the driver of the car says.
The man in the video repeatedly says he doesnt care because he got stung by a wasp.
Sanders is recovering from his minor injuries, but his girlfriend remains in the hospital.
Theyre worried about infection, Sanders said, crying. If her arm gets infected theyre going to have to amputate it.
According to WFAA, so far, no one has been ticketed for the wreck, or for the pass in double-yellow lines.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says they are investigating whether the man intentionally crashed into Sanders.
He’s a crabby old a-hole who doesn’t like motorcycles. He deserves to be jailed, since he could have killed 2 people. His story about a spider, wasp, or whatever keeps changing. They should have given him a breath test, if they didn’t.
OTOH, As the years go on, I am tending to agree with Norm.
It is a filter that is tending to produce a more clear and true fluid all the time, or so it seems.
Cynic, he is.............and too old to change.
Gee, I think he was referring to the old a-hole who committed 2 counts of attempted murder.
That’s exactly right. I’ve known a few of his type and recognized him for what he is.
I hope the old bastard gets some jail time.
That dude should strung to a pole and summarilary shot...
Update: The driver, William Crum, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The motorcycle driver has been cited for passing in a no-pass zone and for driving with an invalid license.
The penalties for the motorcycle driver are: for DWIL $100 - $500 fine and 72 hours - 6 months in prison. For passing in a no pass: approx a $200 fine.
For the car driver: 2nd degree felony, 2-20 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for each count of aggravated assault.
Not offended one little bit.
First off, the biker should not have passed there.
*However*, that was no reason for judge/jury/excutioner attempted vehicular homicide.
I always ride with at *least* one other person, frequently more.
If this ever happens to me, [God forbid] I can guarantee the smart ass driving the car is gonna get their sh*t severely effed up by my friends.
I’ve seen it happen.
Right in front of a state trooper, who was busily studying the clouds floating by, in the other direction, while it went down.
I’ve had plenty of people nearly hit me, out of sheer obliviousness and with few exceptions, I will bet they *never* “don’t see” another biker, again.
[that’s made for a lot of weird ‘detours’ but they gotta stop somewhere, eventually]
Call it a public service.
Why do you bother wasting your time with this bikerphobic POS?
“Ive had plenty of people nearly hit me, out of sheer obliviousness”
I think one danger for bikers is that a lot of drivers are watching out for other cars. And they can look right at a motorcycle and since it doesn’t register as “car” they are liable to pull out in front of a cycle without realizing what they are doing.
Yeah, but it’s *two* 4 foot wide freaking *trikes* riding in staggered formation, making the visual target roughly 8 feet wide, with tons of underbody LEDs that show up, even in broad daylight and my stereo is so loud I can’t hear my sraight pipes.
Not to mention two sets of blinding high power LED headlights that look like an oncoming car.
Most of them have been people blabbling on their damn phones or trying to beat that ‘orange light’.
Came up with a nifty trick, though.
My LEDs are now hooked to a strobe switch that I can hit coming up on intersections.
Flashing red lights make even the blind and dumb panic brake to a stop.
Pavlovian, really.
The car driver is an ass, but so is the cyclist for passing in a no pass zone. If he had not done that this would not have occurred. He is the cause of his own crash.
Both asses. Wouldnt want to be on the road with either of them. One guy doesnt care about other drivrs living, and one thimks because hes on a bike the traffic laws dont apply to him and he bets his girlfriends life on it.
Did you get hit for this retribution to take place? Was it summary execution or just a good old fashioned beating? Did it matter if they were elderly, young, white, black, women?
I'm also not buying the "wasp sting" excuse. That would be fairly easy to prove as you'd have a visible sting on your body.
There is no doubt whatsoever that this jerk purposely swerved into the motorcycle. Of course the motorcyclist was in the wrong too. Not to mention the motorcyclist had a passenger on board - if you are going to drive like a maniac, at least don't do it with another passenger on board.
There's plenty of stupidity to go around here and the driver of the car looks to be doing some serious jail time. He better hope he doesn't get locked up with bikers.
He’s guilty! And that’s just what I’d say if I were being questioned for jury selection.
Yep - many bikers create their own demise but I try to save some from themselves. The other day, I noted one coming on fast in the left lane and could tell he was going to try to swoop in front of me while the car in his lane was only a length ahead of me - leaving about 20 feet of gap while we were doing 45 and he had to be approaching 70. I slowed and hugged the right line to maximize his room and he still came withing 5 feet of my front end. If they want to commit suicide, more power to them, I just don't want them to ding my car while they're at it.....
Used to ride some but haven't for years - old age and a realization of how dangerous it can be has taken the "thrill" out of it.
Also, this guy has a lengthy rap sheet that includes (surprise) reckless driving, domestic violence, abusive calls to 911 and making terrorist threats.
Only sissies swerve cars when stung.
It’s just a wasp, grow a pair.
There is a reason the medical world refers to bikers as “organ donors”.
