All of the great presidents (well most anyway) were assholes in one way or another. If you were a striking Aircraft controller you may well have thought Reagan was an Asshole for firing you. Even Lincoln had his dark side. George Washington put down the Whisky Rebellion over a tax on booze. Trump may well be the Asshole we need right now.

Look, I do get it. But we have to be consistent. If the exact same response came from a guy who had a (D) after his name (and considering how feckless it was, it seems perfectly plausible that we’d have seen the exact same response from a guy who had a (D) after his name), then we’d be ripping him to shreds.
I’m not willing to give W a pass just because I voted for him.
Almost all of the 911 maniacs were in the US illegally. One would’ve thought the logical consequence would’ve been to get those in the US illegally out of the country, and keep them out. Would we be safer today if that had been the direction taken? I suspect so.
Instead, GWB gave us a “war on terror” that never ends.
Instead, he spent all his 9/11 political capital re-fighting his daddy’s war, and in the process massively destabilizing the ME and massively strengthening Iran.

Here's an idea. Instead of making a tweet like that, I'd ask Donald Trump to have a discussion on 9/11 and to provide more detail than what 140 chars can provide.

Instead, he got involved with misguided regime change in Iraq, which created the vacuum which ISIS filled.
You CANNOT absolve GWB of all blame for what followed. Nor can you deny the statement that he was President, and for enough time to assess security weaknesses, when 911 happened.

It is certainly true that Poppa Bush was a great friend of, and maybe even a willing servant of, the Saudi Royal family.

He was tricked into saying it. The interviewer kept leading him on. The media are cowardly wimps that are looking for a story and they keep prying until they get someone to say something they didn’t really want to say. By the way Trump didn’t say Bush was responsible for 9/11. He said he was president when it happened. Then of course the interview said “so you’re saying this”.
Bill O’Reilly tried the same thing the other night when he said to Trump, concerning the democrat debate, “it sorta looked like they knew the questions before hand”. Then Trump said “well maybe, who knows”. Then the sneaky snake O’Reilly keeps it up by saying “so you’re saying they knew the questions beforehand? That’s a serious allegation”. Trump must have been sleepy because he didn’t call O’Reilly on trying to lead him on. So O’Reilly started the story and O’Reilly ended the story, then tried to blame it on Trump. All of Fox News is out to get him, even his “friend” Bill O’Reilly.
I am simply saying that George Bush Sr. has led an impressive life.
Youngest pilot in the navy in 1942, Yale graduate, Congress-critter, Ambassador to the UN, Envoy to China, CIA director. At a time when being competent was valued over political allegiances. VP, and President.
It’s a pretty impressive life. I adamantly disagree with his globalist views and much of what he advocated. But that does not preclude an admiration of his accomplishments.
