The Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-2, on Thursday night in Game 5 of their division series to advance to the National League Championship Series.

In a much-ballyhooed pitching matchup between the young Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom and the Dodgers ace Zack Greinke, deGrom pitched through a great deal of adversity and hung on for a gritty six innings to earn the victory. He gave up six hits and three walks, but struck out seven and allowed only two earned runs.

Go to the toilet, Mets! The Cubs are overdue to take revenge for 1969.

Lets Go Mets-— Lets Go Mets—— I grew up rooting for the Mets. The WS win in 1969 that was something special.

Yes, I will always be a Mets fan because of that. Also Cleon Jones.

MEET THE METS,
MEET THE METS,
Step right up and greet the Mets!
Bring your kiddies,
bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!
East side,
West side,
everybody’s coming down
to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town!
Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
Oh, they’re hollerin’ and cheerin’ and they’re jumpin’ in their seats,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
All the fans are true to the orange and blue,
so hurry up and come on down -
‘cause we’ve got ourselves a ball club,
The Mets of New York town!
Give ‘em a yell!
Give ‘em a hand!
And let ‘em know your rootin’ in the stand!
Come on and MEET THE METS,
MEET THE METS,
Step right up and greet the Mets!
Bring your kiddies,
bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!
East side,
West side,
everybody’s coming down
to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town!
Of New York town!

Hardcore

Thanks for posting this. I love the Mets more than any other team in baseball, football, basketball... whatever.

My family came up with the Brooklyn Dodgers before my generation and, like many, went to the Mets in the early 60s.

Today is a good day.

As a fan of the A's and Giants, all I can say is HA!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Great respect for Vin Scully, hate everything else about the Dodgers. So Kershaw and Greinke and all those regular season wins didn't count for anything in the post-season again. Good, good.

I grew up listening to it.

In NYC you choose.

I lived in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, but chose the Mets, hate the Yankees, and never have or will set foot in Yankee Stadium.

We would ride our bikes to Shea Stadium and climb trees to see the games over the outfield fence.
