rgat one is good also with the local people even the Anglican priest watching it’s progress registering bets with Barry Fitzgerald

The best confrontation is Clint walking across the street with his gun out annoyed that his lunch counter routine is interrupted

But the other Clint confront scene, where the diner waitress puts in too much sugar into his coffee knowing he’ll come back in to complain and find they’re being held up, which he does, and he takes a moment to remark about how bad coffee is when there’s too much sugar in it

For the longest car chase I have to go with Vanishing Point. The whole movie was a car chase.

Jack Reacher in the “bar fight scene”

The “sister”: I don’t mind the sight of blood

Reacher: Well, it means you’re not pregnant, anyway.

(now outside)
Jack Reacher: It’s your last chance to walk away.

Jeb: Are you kidding? It’s five against one.

Reacher: It’s *three* against one.

Jeb: How do you figure?

Reacher: Well, once I take out the leader, which is you, I’ll have to contend with one or two enthusiastic wingmen. The last two guys, they always run away.

Thank you...wasn’t sure since it looked like a Scorsese production. Mann has directed many other big movies, IIRC. Can’t think of any of the top.

Fun fact: The scene where he was exiting the freeway and hit the lightpole was a true accident—it was not scripted, bt once they realized he was OK, they left it in the movie.

“Wild Bunch”.

<pAbsolutely one of the best when they went up against the Mexican machine guns. I would put it up against Heat, which so many favor for gun battles.

One of the shortest lines John Wayne ever delivered: “Bar towel!”

Peter Falk and Eddie Anderson (”Rochester”) as cabs drivers = hilarious (as was the whole movie except for the Spencer Tracy career/family problems sections).

Another good hand fight: Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner kicking terrorist *behind* at the end of “The Kingdom.” That movie had a good car chase/wreck too.

"Gun Fight: Absolutely “Open Range.” Best gunfight ever put on film. It goes through phrases, like a sword fight. Each one is excellent, all together they are epic. “Heat” is almost as good, I will admit."

Don't you just love when Costner goes around the building and approaches the bad guy holding the damsel. He just walks up to him and shoves his gun towards him as he pulls. My now favorite Western.

Looking like I got my first choice of gunfight correct from all the replies. Heat is second or tied. Sure there are many others as we read on.

Hand-to-Hand: James Bond tie between From Russia With Love (train) and Diamonds Are Forever (elevator). Honorable mention: Torn Curtain (kitchen)

Car chase: Ronin. Honorable mention: The Driver

Gunfight: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
