He is British. They all sound like fags!
Have you ever seen the meme “Very British Problems”?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/expatpicturegalleries/10793723/Ten-very-British-problems.html
My mom is from England, so I have some of them in my DNA.
It’s pretty good, but I get the impression
this guy didn’t set foot outside New York City.
lol...
My son shared this with me earlier. I love his accent and disposition.
5-year-old British boy cannot contain his excitement about becoming a big brother
Someone on the Facebook page link posted this:
"Fun fact: this boys charming, pleasantly surprised reaction is the absolute most excited a British person can get about anything."
Would you believe I have bought and sold two that are on that list you provided?
And they are not worth as much as the site/list indicates.
I do have a lot of the FIDOs, though.
FIDO = Freaks, Irregulars, Defects, Oddities.
Most of them are only worth what a collector will pay for them, unless it's of such a huge mistake that the non-collector does a double-take.
You would be surprised, however, at the value of some the coins that you, yourself, have had pass through your hands...especially if you are older that 60 or so.
39. Order a cup of tea in a cafe or restaurant and you will be confronted with a glass or mug of lukewarm water with a teabag of some alarming flavour, like pomegranate or boysenberry, floating sadly on the top like a punctured dinghy, and some milk that is probably 50% cream, delivered on request. Im just going to say it once: the water needs to be at boiling point for the tea to infuse!!!
From the late, great Christopher Hitchens:
How To Make a Decent Cup of Tea:
Ignore Yoko Ono and John Lennon, and heed George Orwells tea-making advice.
Thanks for the information. Very interesting. :) I deal mostly with my credit card so I rarely have change, but want to start looking for the oldies now!
Actually that is in error...the first one was in 2008.
I use that same argument when some EuroSnob comments on how we Americans speak only our native language whereas they are multi-lingual.
I point out that I can do basically the same trip you mention and still be understood, while they have gone through three or four countries and have to shift mental gears each time.
Oh Do Tell!
I am all ears :)
Please do share some of those if you can :)
Hell, I can drive for 12 hrs. and still be in TEXAS.
If nobody wanted to be a Waiter / Waitress, those Jobs would pay much more money. Supply, meet Demand.
Wow, some of you see this as hostility and answered in kind. I liked the article. It is interesting to hear what others think of us. He’d only been here 6 months. I’ve lived in two other countries and you learn a lot about culture only be seeing more than one of them. He’s got a few good points.
It is OK to be different and have differences. And it is interesting, not insulting, to talk about them.
You're not kidding. Some years back we drove from CA to FL via US 10 and when we entered Texas, we spotted a mileage sign that said "801". My heart sank, for a second I thought "We ain't never gonna get through Texas".
This bloke doesn't understand that customers always take on all of the staffing costs. Unless the business goes under, that is.
That would be less than 2 coins. I think a $5 coin might work, especially if it was around the size of the one pound coin.
It was a simple joke about how heavy British coinage is.
I understood and actually I like the feel of a few pounds in my pocket. Surely they save money on printing.
