Getting bored with Netflix and thinking of getting a Sling TV account.

Any advice/reviews from FReepers using the service is appreciated.

Just Sling your TV out the window.... You’ll be a lot better off.

It’s great. Very happy with it. Complementary with Netflix.

If I did that I wouldn’t be able to surf on FR anymore.

Is there anyone else who ships DVD’s through the mail like Netflix?

Is the streaming pretty clean? Minimal buffering?

I thought all Sling boxes do is send your programming from home through the internet?

Oh come on man. It’s football season.

I can find most anything free streaming on the web but there’s someone in the house who is internet challenged and a streaming service would make it much easier for them.

Almost any TV show and movie imaginable can be found on YouTube and can be played on the big TV through a smart TV or through almost any Blue Ray player with low internet.

I have Direct TV, but if I did not have the extra money I could lose that.
Get Time Warner Cable internet and a phone for $25 a month.
3.5 down 1 up on the internet.
I share a Netflix account with my niece.

Those are my money saving tips and youtube can expand your things to view, just ask the right question in search.

Arthur, I don’t know of any alternative DVD sources via mail.

From what I hear from others a lot of municipal libraries have moved into the 90’s and have lots of current DVD movies on the shelves for check out.

Internet by dish then? That is an expensive connection.

Doyle: What you doing with that Sling TV, Karl?

Karl: “I aim to kill you with it by makin’ you watch old episodes of “Fresh Prince Of BelAir”. Unless you got some French fried potaters, a can a potted meat or some biscuits, uh huh.”

Is this similar to Roku?

Anyone have Roku? I’m thinking of getting it within the next few weeks.

I have a Sling Box and that's all it does. I think this is different.

I like my Sling Box but I used to like it more. That was before they started inundating users with ads.

Yep. Got a basic Roku box a couple of years back. Not bad for all the channels you get for free once you buy the box.

Sling TV is very good, you can watch it via the ROKU too. I cut cable and now watch Sling for the handful of cable channels and I use an antenna for the locals.

Streaming is very clear.

Don’t have Sling but I have USTvNow which is similar. It is at www.ustvnow.com. I watch it thru my Roku stick. It’s very good. All the channels I need. You can try out 6 or 7 channels I believe for free for 45 days before you have to upgrade. Not too much buffering. I’m very happy that I don’t pay Direct TV a hundred bucks a month anymore.

Now I must add that I watch ZERO sports and ZERO premium stuff like HBO. So you will need to check on that if that stuff is important to you.
