This story is truly tragic. A Delaware quadriplegic woman and her husband, a disabled veteran, are suing state police after he was beaten during a police raid.
According to the Delewareonline.com, officers beat and used a stun gun on the husband when he was trying to cover his quadriplegic wife with a cover. When the officers raided the home, they found the husband in the bedroom with his wife giving her a sponge bath. Her wheel chair was also in the room.
Lisa was lying on the bed when officers ordered her to stand up. She could not because of her condition, which family members had already told officers before they entered the room. Yet still officers continued demanding she stand up and shouted at her to do what she could not: stand up.
Ruther, her husband, was allegedly attempting to cover her with a towel when officers pushed him down, punched him repeatedly and used a taser on him twice!

This time they hit the right house, but the victims were guests. There is a specific SCOTUS case regarding use of force, Graham v. Connor which says that all uses of force must be reasonable and neccesary. In that case the arrest iwas on a diabetic having some kind of episode, and despite pleading from his friends was subjected to force and handcuffing. Fairly similar.
The two disabled people were guests that arrived the day before. Not normal residents.
Well, the important thing is the cops made it home safe.
(Must I really? OK, /sarc)
Officer Biden?
I was in the USN for 1961 to 1965.
What would you like to know, exactly?
Why you disregard a disabled veteran being beaten by the police for starters...
They were at one to their mother’s house. The raid was for two of their nephews who were there. One pled out for drug paraphenalia charge.
More members of the criminal justice system undermining respect for it. It is just amazing to me that the people in the criminal justice system from judges down to cops do not see what they are doing to respect for the law in this country.
Where did I express any disregard? What I said was that we all enjoy the same constitutional rights, none more than others.
The ADA tends to disagree with you.
Both links are so full of ads and automatically playing videos that I couldn’t read a thing.
I disagree with some of the ADA, myself.
Now I’ll retire to watch Navy dismembering Air Force.
They might be telling the truth, though when the reporter asked the 12 year old (black) son if the incident affected his view of police, I had seen enough.
Okay .. but if the people had just arrived .. why didn’t they just take another day and find out who they were.
I mean .. this was a total lack of common sense here.
.....what’s the truth here................anybody know?
“The same goons who kick in doors, shoot dogs, & confiscate guns, based on a swatters call to 911.”
Ah yes, the same goons that ran into the World Trade Towers to save people and were turned into dust.
Stop with the generalizations.
A few bad apples make it bad for the rest. Fact.
If it is true, it is pure evil. It reminds me of that unarmed, homeless, autistic young man cops beat to death in Fullerton, Ca. as he yelled for his dad (a retired sheriff) to save him. This all happened in front of many witnesses who were all freaked out. It was all taped. Horrendous. I think they ended up getting away with the murder, too.
“Yeah, because disabled people are worthier of constitutional rights than the rest of us...”
No, because disabled people may not be able to carry out their orders. If I had to walk a straight line, they would put me in jail because I can’t.
That woman was a quadriplegic and that means her arms and legs aren’t going to move no matter how loud they shout at her to get up, no matter if they hold a gun on her, she still can’t move.
Cops should know some people are in bad physical shape and cops should be able to judge that fairly quickly, especially with a quadriplegic.
