At the end of a sensational trial, former football star O.J. Simpson is acquitted of the brutal 1994 double murder of his estranged wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. In the epic 252-day trial, Simpsons dream team of lawyers employed creative and controversial methods to convince jurors that Simpsons guilt had not been proved beyond a reasonable doubt, thus surmounting what the prosecution called a mountain of evidence implicating him as the murderer.

He did a horrible job, but he never should have had the case.
The murder took place in West Los Angeles and should have been tried in that district. Gil Garcetti pulled strings, moved it to LA and assigned the prosecution team. Had it stayed in West LA the DA of that section would likely have run for DA and was a threat to Garcetti.
Blame starts there, and then goes down hill.
In the first place, armed robbery is an extremely serious offense, and the ideal response to someone who pulls a gun on you is to kill him. As for O.J.’s poor “friend,” if you choose to associate with bozos then don’t complaint of the negative consequences that will certainly befall you.
Stunned by the verdict, but perhaps not as stunned as Robert Kardashian (sp?)......the look on his face was priceless.
It was 7:30am in Hawaii, I had just opened my classroom, had the radio on, raising the blinds. Total utter disbelief and shock,
If the judge’s ruling was within the law, then I don’t see any red flags that would keep her off the Supreme Court, assuming she respects the constitution and demonstrates that respect in her rulings. I’m not a legal scholar nor an expert on that particular case, but if she chose to give the maximum to OJ and didn’t go outside the law or her role as judge in doing so, then I have no problem with it. That’s why they call them judges. They have some latitude in making their rulings. The pictures of a battered Nicole, the public anguish that she and Ron’s family went through, these things can color a judges decision.
I was at work up here in Ottawa and me and a couple of guys stopped just in time to hear the verdict being read out. I felt saddened the rest of the afternoon from thinking about the Brown and Goldman families and how their lives have never been the same since losing their loved ones in such a horrible manner. Given that, I really found footage and images being shown on the news of black people celebrating the acquittal extremely repugnant.
Mind you, wasn’t that the same day that a major figure in the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing was convicted? That is if my memory serves me properly.
Kardashian’s “Are you sh!tting me?” expression says it all. He knew OJ and Nicole personally and of all the dream team members had not even the slightest inkling that OJ didn’t do it. However like all of them he did his job, and having had the benefit of a dream jury (mostly black, with vengeance against the LAPD on their mind), he couldn’t believe his good luck.
After everything died down (relatively), I read all the pertinent facts of the case. O.J. was undeniably guilty. There was no way the cops could plant the great amount of incriminating evidence without being discovered or ratted out.
Shapiro’s dazed expression was what riveted me. Other than Johnie Cochran, the rest of his team had the, “Wow. Really?” look about them.
The Black community shamed itself that day.
Marine Corps Air Station, Tustin, California.
Still can’t believe it.
I was at a trade show in New Orleans. You could hear a pin drop...then someone yelled Bull$hit! And the place erupted in, “You got that right!” “You said it!”
Many of them didn't deny it. From reading the comments of black people on various pubic forums, many of them admitted it didn't matter if O.J. was guilty or not. White people deserved what they got because of what they did to black people i.e. slavery, discrimination, etc.
I saw one video of some black guy who said because Mark Fuhrman had said the n word, Simpson should be set free. That's their level of logic.
I was working in an office, listening to other people’s reaction who had a radio playing. I remember the muted delight some of the black women there, and open disgust among most everyone else. This was all about getting back at the cops for the first Rodney King verdict. A non sequitur writ large.
We should congratulate O.J. for finally putting the real killer behind bars.
The worst thing about this trial is that it ultimately led to that plague we have today known as the Kardashians.
He searched for the “real killers” on every golf course for years after the verdict. MadTV did a funny sketch with OJ in his golf cart, chasing the real killers (dressed as you would expect real killers, complete with ski masks), but never quite catching them.
I followed it religiously because it was so riveting. I called in sick that day & yes I completely remember the open mouthed shock on Kardashian’s face. I also remember the utter devastation on the face of Ron Goldman’s sister. A tragedy all the way.
In the cafeteria at work they put up some TVs to watch. All the black employees cheered, everyone else seemed to walk away in disbelief.
