When I was in high school, I think we studied Muslims (back then they were “Moslems”) in the early 70’s.

When I started high school in the late 1950s (class of '61) they were called Mohammadans and we were taught that they spread their faith by the sword, but were eventually evicted by the sword.

If in fact separation of church and state is the justification of removing religion from public schools why is the Muslim religion exempt from this standing?

Because Christians, Jews, Buddhists, even Pagans will only complain about the unfairness. Muslims will kill you if they get the opportunity.
