Trump’s Tax Plan
Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept. 29, 2015 7:21 a.m. ET | James Freeman

Posted on 09/29/2015 4:36:17 AM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

Donald Trump describes his tax plan in a Journal op-ed, promising “four brackets: 0%, 10%, 20% and 25%. This new code eliminates the marriage penalty and the alternative minimum tax while providing the lowest tax rates since before World War II.” Mr. Trump adds that “this plan eliminates the death tax.” Also, he intends to “allow the middle class to keep most of their deductions while eliminating many of the deductions for the very rich.” And on the corporate side, “any business of any size will pay no more than 15% of its business income in taxes.”

In the meantime so many illegals would have come in and become voters that whatever conservatives return to wouldn’t have a shred of impact on the country.

Get a good look at the immediate big picture—and address what most needs to be addressed!

So far all he’s done with jobs is ship them to Mexico and Bangladesh, and as for his tax plan, just what we need is more people with no skin in the game. That’s how budgets get out of control.

Well you completely ignored my question about what Huckabee has as a proposed policy, on bringing back American jobs.

That is critical.

America needs to rebuild. Right here.

I have my priorities in order. Thanks.

But more proposed rearrangement of the income tax system deck chairs is worthy of comment.

The fairtax will replace income tax with a national retail sales tax, and the IRS with the National Revenue Collection
Agency, which will make sure that none of us can take advantage of the wholesale loophole.

I addressed it. You simply missed it.

The FairTax plan goes to the core of what has killed American jobs during our lifetimes, and fixes it.

Trump’s plan leaves the primary disease fully functional and in place.

Keep fooling yourself.

Fortunately, I don’t think you’ll fool too many people on FR.

Politics is the art of the possible.

The federal income tax is not getting eliminated in Trump’s and probably your and my lifetimes.

I agree

3D printers are not the end all that everyone thinks they are. First you need to get the 3D file and that is not easy or cheap. Then the manner in which 3D printing is done, but still, does anyone have the impression that just because it is printed in 3D that it will be engineered? I would not bet my life on it and as one in the design and development business, I won’t have one. All that I use them for is to make pieces that can be fitted and not used, just to make sure the machined piece will fit, if there is any question.

I send my paramtric files to my preferred machinist who uses the CAM software to translate thtem to the G-Code for the machines to cut the piece by CNC. In some cases it is even faster than 3D printing.

I’m always concerned that the offsets never seem to bring in nearly as much revenue as projected.

You shouldn't be worried, both JFK and Reagan were tax cutters and FedGov™ revenues soared because of them.

There is PLENTY of things to worry about but this is not one of them.

Wish I had a nickel for every time the GOPe has used that deceptive phrase to justify its complete abrogation of principle. I could buy my own island in the South Pacific and leave y'all to your own devices.

" we have to hold the senate and house to slash the budget."

The president can simply eliminate cabinet positions and their agencies, such as the Dept of Education, the Dept of energy, the EPA, etc. He doesn't need to pay off C0ngress.

If Donald Trump is elected and if he does what he says on taxes and, now this if, is big, IF he get's rid of the EPA, my dad will hire at least 1,000 in Maine, 5,000 more in PA and SC/GA.

He does not need C0ngress, he needs, the balls my dad knows he has.

But if he does as the past 15 presidents have done, then Dad will lay off that same number and go fishing.

Well we need more than changing the tax code, though I agree then you are on the right side.

We need a president who once again actively supports bringing back American jobs.

Trump is so far, the only politician in either party, it might be noted, who is for actively bringing back American jobs.

I don’t know if you’re retired, and think “jobs don’t affect me”. But America is hurting, bad.

America needs to rebuild. Right here. We need to stop supporting China, and Mexico, and every other country in the entire world, and we need to bring our focus right back home.

Trump is for American jobs.

He seems to be the only politician anywhere, who is.

You know alot more than me so I’ll go with your answer.

The media makes it sound like you can print a door, a desk, a sponge, etc.

I really dont understand it well.

I know China said they made a house using 3D printer.

I really have to read up on it.

You learn so much on this board. I did not know the president had that kind of power.

I guess your father owns a VERY big business. Good for him. 5000. wow.

I had a vending route once and I had one kid working for me :)

The FairTax is described here:

www.fairtax.org

Basically, it eliminates all income taxes (personal and corporate) and all payroll taxes, and replaces it with a 30% sales tax on everything. Individual taxpayers get a “pre-bate” check every month from Govco to cover the approximate tax on their necessities.

The upside is that there are no longer any income or payroll taxes. No more hassle with those, no need to file, no more IRS knowing all that stuff, and no more IRS.

There are some big downsides, however. The prebate is nice in theory, but now every household is heavily influenced, or even dependent, on an enormous Govco entitlement program. Central planning Marxists would salivate at this situation.

Also, huge black markets would develop to evade the 30% tax. Every taxpayer would be scheming their brains out to find ways to evade the tax. Underground economies and bartering would flourish. Some would say that’s a good thing, but it would penalize those businesses who would seek to play “fair”, ironic pun intended.

Further, one aspect that I’ve never liked from proponents is that they will tell you that the tax is not 30%, but it’s only 23%. Here’s how they get there: say $100 worth of goods is bought, and a 30% tax or $30 is added, bringing the total to $130. Proponents will tell you that the share of the tax is only $30/$130 = 23%. By similar logic, if the tax was raised to 100%, they would tell you that the effective tax rate was only 50%, because only 50% of what you pay is for taxes. That is disingenuous, and has always made me suspicious of its supporters.

Fair tax - is it 23% or 30% ?
depends on if you are selling it or not buying it.

Bah. The talking points of Republicans and Democrats, at the federal and the state level, are always “jobs, jobs, jobs.” I don’t know how in the world you’ve missed that.

Of course, their job is not to create jobs. The only jobs they can create are more government jobs, or more subsidized jobs, of which we have far more than enough already, thank you very much.

The job of government is to secure our individual rights to life, liberty, and property, to secure the sovereignty, security and borders of the country, and to fulfill the small set of tasks appointed to the general government by We the People via our Constitution, in keeping with the oath of office.

If they would simply begin to do that, and stop doing all this stuff that is not included in their enumerated powers, jobs, and physical properity, would take care of themselves just fine.
