Hey in Mo. kinda warm up there. Got a chance of rain maybe. As for cukes they grow so nice here for me until June comes and the Tx heat kills them off without producing fruits no matter the watering.
Doggone frustrating—thats 2 years in a row now. Oh well the swiss chard is robust at least. Green smoothies dontchyaknow.
Here as soon as the temp hits 70 degrees, the vines start dying of very quickly, so we don’t get much-I think it’s a soil borne disease that gets started at that temp, but I can’t recall the name just now.
Consider giving the plants some sun shade from the overhead noon sun.
Another suggestion , contact your local cooperative Extension Office to see which varieties are reccomended for your area.
A friend of mine had a similar problem , which he solved by putting halfed cedar wood shingles diagonally so the plants didn't get baked out by the noonday sun .
Also, works good for seedlings; since it is cedar , they can be used year after year.
